Glossy will show imperfections better than flat just from my experience especially with your lights on. So make sure your motions are smooth and the target is free of debris before and after you paint. (during drying time)

Flat however makes the black in the headlights more definative. Meaning it will stand out more and not be so much of a glare.

You could go in between and do a semi gloss. That's what I went with and it came out good.

I've used both. Although I don't have any pics at the moment, glossy black gives a reflective black without a wet gloss (don't let the "glossy" throw you off) while the flat black looks like straight up primer. I prefer glossy black on my black car. My friend uses flat black to colormatch his grey lexus IS, if that helps you.

also I think if you paint it flat it really looks like you did it yourself. And the glossy looks more like it came from the factory that way. i dont know its up to you and I dont think its that big of a deal just do it

I used a satin black and textured the finish by spraying the final coats from far away to get an even, slightly rough texture. I think it's called dry spray. I was able to get a perfectly even texture with no flaws. It really looks like black plastic that came from the factory that way. I don't think anyone who didn't know better would know it wasn't stock.

There are some large images here. It's hard to photograph the texture through the lens though. http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrow...der_id=1790887 You can also check my Cardomain page.

Just be sure to give yourself plenty of drying time whatever do choose. It's easy to scuff the soft paint when reasembling them and a lot of work to fix.

I'm getting some 01 SE tails tomorrow and installing them on Saturday. After that, this will be my next mod.

Post up some pics of the process and final results...

I think the SE tails look great on the darker cars. Once you see them installed you'll want to do the headlights ASAP. They really bring the car into balance.
