Advancing base timing :D

Advancing base timing :D
Whelp, I finally did it and without the help of a dealer or consult-II
I found that my Autoenginuity ODB-II program has a neat manufacturer specific upgrade, which in Nissans allows factory only functions such as idle target adjustment, timing adjustment, and idle air re-learn (and monitoring of practically all the ECU readings). The tool paid for itself over time as i've used it on many vehicles.
So after driving around for a year looking at my stupid Blitz R-VIT meter read 15 degrees base timing everyday, I bought the upgrade and 5 minutes later...
Then I did the idle air re-learn (although the car didn't react different after the timing adjustment)
Just thought i'd share For anyone that wants to know what the tool can do:
Nissans (functions depend on year and model)
http://www.autoenginuity.com/Nissan-...tems-List.html
Other cars
http://www.autoenginuity.com/products-software.html
Oh btw, the clock time is earlier on the idle air because I was just testing to see if it worked first before trying the ignition timing.

You check out the price from the link I posted in the 1st post. The price is determined by which system you want and options.
A33: yea, I can do it on your car when you come down. Gotta hook up a past customer
Foodmanry: we can do it the next time we meet up.
Hoooper: just like the Consult-II, you can also advance base timing permanently +2 or -2 degrees. Originally at 15 degrees, +2 correction = 17 degree base timing.

I don't even think the consult-II can alter the rev-limiter on a Spec-V. It may require some sort of reflash from a company such as Technosquare
The sampling rate is unknown. All it says is 1ms logging accuracy. Its not super great when datalogging, but it gets the job done. Sometimes you pick up random numbers that have to be manually deleted in the excel spreadsheet. It doesn't sample too well during throttle blips in idle (but I like to think that's because my car revs very fast with the lightweight stuff )

Personally...based on my experience with my 5th gen I've seen that advancing the timing actually helps with gas mileage. When I had my timing at 17* I saw about 25MPG city and highway with an auto tranny. Now after setting it back to stock at 15* I'm getting about 20 to 21 MPG city/highway. I did notice when I had it at 17* my plugs would burn out faster because of the leanness.
As far as performance I really didn't notice much....only reason I want to go back to 17* is for the MPG.
