Auto Park Option

Hi,

I'm doing a project for statistics class so I need about 100 respones to this question.

Would you pay extra or specifically look for a car with the Auto Parallel Park Feature (with this option your car will supposedly parallel park itself with the touch of a button)?

Thanks in Advance,
Raymond

You should set this thread up as a voting thread where people can vote yes, no, maybe, only if it cost less than $25K, etc.

I personally would not pay extra for or specifically look for a car that could parallel park itself. However I'm willing to bet my wife would, she hates parallel parking and avoids it at all costs.

It would depend on the price. Since I am the best parallel parker in the world... I would probably say no. But if I'm buying a $75k+ car that has that option, I could probably afford it and would do it.

Thanks for the responses, yeah I should have set it up as voting, forgot about that. I did a survey at work and it seems females have a tendency to want this option. I guess not a big shocker there. hah

Would need more info - but if it was reasonably priced and came in a bundle package with a few other options.. I guess.

Assuming the above: Yes

For the record, I CAN parallel park.. I just don't like doing it.

No. Not saying that it would be stupid to have but, just not that important to me. Now maybe if I was still in Germany. Where most of the cars are small and all the parking spots are smaller.

me personally NO, i like parallel parking

thats why people get in so many car accidents, THEY CAN DRIVE. They need to learn some real driving skills, and STOP THINKING THE CAR IS GOING TO DRIVE ITSELF.

i live in baltimore, and anyone here who has been to this city, KNOWS how people in Baltimore drive.

the mother of invention is laziness. every action that happens to parr. park happens. looking to see how far you can back up, making sure your not sticking out in the road, evrything, except you turning your head and moving your hands and feet. to say maybe is just admitting that when you look forward to having some male nurse wipe your crack when you get old and crap yourself.

It's PARKING... It's no a science. This would have to be something that is featured in major metropolitan areas where Parallel parking is a must.

To answer the question, if the car has the option, MAYBE. Just don't see myself doing something like that though.

If the option was as much as a pair of OEM rims....then yes. You should see my OEM's that my wife destroyed.

LOL..... ouch....... on the Mercedez Benz the option was 6k, but then again that's a Mercedez, my guess is it would cost 3k for the option on regular cars.

NO! We are getting lazy as it is. I don't need a car the parks itself. Knowing my luck, the dang car would smash into a Lambo or something.

Auto park option opinion

I wouldn't pay an extra penny for this option.
I'll save my money for a navigation system....or maybe
a nice set of wheels...or headers and exhaust....

No...
It's a nice feature but I don't mind taking the extra second or two to do it myself.

This would be the **** for the young cats taking the driving test for their L.

HELL NO, its just something else that go wrong with the car at the end of the warranty period and cost a freakin arm and a leg to get fixed... i to would use the money for some new rims, or some type of upgrade, or aftermarket toy. just my .02

No. I have to parallel park once about every two years.

I would much rather see some sort of color night vision or something be researched.

^ Actually it was part of the driving test in WA. That is why I failed the first time. My first car was a 77 caddy and I had to park it between the civic sized cones. I got it in there, but the guy said I pulled up and back too many times.

In NC however, parallel parking isn't a requirement.

Yeah, I don't think I'd pay for that option, unless I could really afford it. I'd rather do the work myself so I can have the satisfaction of knowing how well I did parking my car...

No, if you have a car, you should know how to drive it. Plain and simple. To be honest, I think the driving tests should be much harder here. Sad sometimes who you can find on the road. I'd rather fail a bunch of times to at least know that there are capable people on the road.

I would look for it on a used car, much like the navigation system. It's an extra 2 grand new, but when you buy used, it's almost the same price.

Its like a heated steering wheel, relatively unnecessary but it sure is fun to have

True, but a heated stereering wheel won't cost a few thousand dollars.

Poll: NO.

I agree that licensing exams for new drivers should be much harsher. Too many idiots as it is.

And I would never trust a computer/machine to actually move the car for me. what happens when the damn sensor breaks and the thing smashes into the bimmer parked behind it? $600 sensor, $1,000 bumper replacement on the bimmer, + whatever you're willing to spend on your car. Screw that. Learn to drive, don't try and buy the ability.

I would not, I dont parallel park to often, the few times I have had to, I did it fine.
It would probably be location based on areas that require a lot of parrallel parking.
