How to replace a taillight??...

Someone hit my car in a parking lot and busted out my left rear taillight. It sucks because i do not know who it was. Anyway, I am going to order a new taillight and install it myself. Does anyone have directions on how to replace a taillight? I have a 2001 AE maxima...thanks

1. remove (or pull back) inside trunk lining
2. remove bolts holding tailight in (4 i think)
3. disconnect wire harness
4. push tailight from inside (its hard because of the sticky black sealant)

it's not that hard...just be sure to put a towel or something on the back of the tail light when pushing it out so you don't cut yourself :P like what soonerfan says take the carpeting out and then there's like 3 or 4 screws holding the tail light in place. i used an 8mm socket to do it. you might want to get some more nissan sealant or reuse the ones on the old tail light. that way you don't risk getting water in the trunk and stuff. i've read some people get leaks when they didn't put new sealant. i'm not a do it yourself person...i usually pay a shop to do it but i managed to change tail lights myself so that shows you how easy it is

If you buy the taillight new (Nissan OEM), a new roll of sealant is included.
