Paint Fall or Spring ?

Does it make a big difference whether I get my hood repainted in the fall or spring (cold, salt, curing) I can deal with the sight of it until spring if it is better for the long term. My hood needs to get stripped/painted and I am not sure whether to wait till the spring or not.

thanks

summer or a booth are the best but if u had to fall or spring wont make a difference (exept for salt) those seasons are roughly the same just dont paint in the winter unless your in a booth.your shine will be gone by next winter

Weather doesnt matter as long as its baked properly in a booth with the correct hardeners and reducers for the climate.

If you're gonna wait til spring you might as well stick it out till the summer so the paint has a better chance of lasting. Plus salt in the winter will wear away the clear coating faster.

I like to paint stuff in the Summer. But honestly, I don't think it makes THAT much of a difference.

What do you mean "lasting" [Steves01MAX].....is there a shelf life on my paint? I thought that was corrected by NOT going to Maaco who incidently stated that the heat in the summer can prevent the paint from curing correctly.....is there any truth to this or is it BS. I live in the north east and was figuring to get it done in April.

thanks,

So long as you get it painted at a spot that paints in a booth then your straight. They have heating lamps that will bake the paint, that's why you won't get it back in the same day. With that being said the paint will still take about a month to completely cure. Although it's better to do it when it starts to get warmer it shouldn't be an issue. By the way NO waxing, just use dish detergent and water for at least a month after getting it painted.

In terms of quality it doesn't make a difference when you paint. I'd still opt for spring or late spring to do it though. Let's face it, with all the salt and crud on the streets in the winter you are not going to see your nice and shiny freshly painted hood.
