data dots and theft prevention kits are two diffirent things.

data dots dont dont change the way you remove the lights...the prevention kit does.

Open up the hood. It should be self explanatory from there to see how the headlights are mounted to the car. Loosen, remove, disconnect, and pull out.

is it that easy? I have always seen people asking how to take them out, so I just assumed it was hard. well as long as you guys say its easy, i guess it shouldn't be too bad then.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Can somebody pm me with some info? This was a lot easier when I had my 2000. I tried to remove the headlights on my 02 but I couldn't get them off. I think they have the additional bracket.

I don't know anything about data dots (wasn't done on mine), but my headlights just come right out. You take out the two screws and lift the headlights up and out. There is a metal pawl on the outside edge that may hold them in. A little prying forward on the outside edge and the metal pawl will pop out out of the plastic guide.

Is there something drastically different about lights with the data dots?

im not really sure. i have the dots but dont know if its for the id or if it has the security brackets also. I took the top 2 10mm screw out and can get it about an inch out.. then it feels like something is hanging it up. This is a stupid question and yes i did undo them but if you dont have the wires for the lights undone that will hold the light from coming out all the way. Meaning there is no give on the wires? ALso is there a bolt underneath that needs to be undone as well. . ive tried but didnt want to break anything or scratch anything i am hesitant on yanking on it til i know ive undone all the bolts. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, a completely different bracket.

No one will outwardly explain how to remove them in a public forum. This is a sensitive topic because of the rampant and expensive headlight thefts that were occurring a while back. Those in the northeast that were experiencing the problem did not need a how-to for would-be thieves all over the internet. Please do not ask. It is possible, but is more involved than just 2 bolts.
