My Max IS NOTTTTTTTT Good Shape
FIRST OFF I HAVE 130,000 MILES ON THE CAR ....ITS A 2001 AND ALL I SEE IS TROUBLE.....IT HAS ENGINE NOISE A PINGING SOUND LIKE THE LIFTERS..... THATS THE FIRST OF MY PROBLEMS.... NEXT MY PARKING LIGHT FUSE IS ALWAYS BLOWN... YES I HAVE HALOS BUT THATS IT.... ON WINDY DAYS MORE AT NIGHT WHEN I JUMP ON THE FREEWAY THEY FU''KIN BLOW.... .... THE NEXT THING IS THAT MY TCS OFF AND SLIP LIGHT COME ON WHEN IM DRIVING AND IT RUNS LIKE **** PUTTERING AND MAKES ME NOT WANT TO DRIVE IT...... THEN U GOT THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM ... WHEN I FIRST START MY CAR IN DA MORNING AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE IT TAKES A MIN TO GRAB THE GEAR..... THEN WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE IT WONT GRAB TILL I PRESS THE GAS AND IT REVS TO 1500 - 2000 RPMS... THEN IT WILL JERK HARD AS **** INTO 2ND GEAR AND THEN 3RD...... I DONT LIKE THAT AT ALL..... THE CAR HAS HAD ITS OILS CHANGED EVERY 2-3OOO MILES AND AS NOT HAD A 120K TUNE UP....... MAN MY MAX IS ****ED UP .....THEN EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE ALL MY GAUGES DROP WHILE IM DRIVIN.... MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON .... AND SUMTIMES IT BLINKS.. I KNOW ITS BAD WHEN UR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKS .... OH AND WHEN I START MY CAR MY O/D OFF LIGHT BLINKS LIKE 5 TIMES....MY BRAKE LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT BOTH LIGHT UP AND THEN GO AWAY WHEN IM DRIVIN AND GET TO LIKE 60MPH ....... WHAT IT WRONG WITH MY MAX.. SHOULD I KEEP IT ...... IVE HAD IT FOR ALMOST A YR.... BUT DAMN U KNOW ITS HARD TO LET GO OF A MAX... I NEED HELP ASAP PLEASE..........

CALM Down. The engine is misfiring so badly it just cannot possibly run properly and the pinging and tranny operation or lack of it, may all be connected. I'm thinking coil/s or MAF. It may even be in fail-safe mode. If you ever see the SES light flashing on these cars the ECM has detected a serious fault which in this case is the missing/etc. by the sound of it. In this case, instead of people here trying to troubleshoot via this forum I suggest you drive the car (reasonably and don't beat on it) to a (I hate to say it) dealer or a service place, and have them get it on a scantool, pull the codes etc. and have a look at it.

From what I can understand from whatever it is that was written. Your first course of action is to take it to a reputable mechanic. Ask around if you don't know one and find one. Problems maybe be related.

you might have abused the car by not doing services other than oil change on every 2 to 3k. brake light and battery light indicate the alternator problem. you also need a new maf= mass airflow meter. and replace the coils and plugs along with transmission flush or drain and fill. it could be too late for the transmission flush just get it rebuild if the mass airflow sensor doesnt solve this issue.
