Hey guys, I got a 2003 Maxima. I fill at Petro-Canada stations which have 4 different choices.....which are 87, 89, 91 and 94 octane levels. So now what do u guys think I should put, 91 or 94 octane?? I would never put the 87 or 89. The difference in price between the 91 and 94 is 0.05 cents.
So tell me what u guys think...............I have been putting 94 but if 91 is the same i might as well go with that.

if you plan to mod the car...especially do the 17 degree timing mod...i'd feed her some 94 octane...just to show some love

 

Honestly, 91 is sufficient for VQ Maximas. Even with the timing advanced, 91 octane is sufficient.

Unless you're boosted, you really don't have to worry about getting 94, there is NO performance increase.

 

However, if 94 is 0.05 CENTS more, being 1/20 of a cent more, hell, who wouldn't get it just for the sake of it...

now, if it's 0.05 DOLLARS more, or 5 cents more, it amounts to about a dollar more per fill up, or maybe 3 dollars a month, 36 dollars a year. A rather small price to pay for peace of mind if you're the kind of neurotic person I am...

 

This reminds me of that audio clip of a guy arguing over his Verizon phone bill...anywho, it says that 91 or higher is recommended, so go with 91. You are just wasting some money by putting 94 in there.

 

It all depends on ignition timing air fuel ratio, and elevation.

Unless you screw with either/or, you'll be fine @ 90-91.
