cattman cat back loud as hell
just installed on my 02 with a cattman y, i can BARELY hear it. in need to get a test pipe and my headers on. i hear my intake more than the c/b/. im actually disappointed, everyone says its so loud, i guess sound is subjective like suspension. frankencar must sound like stock so why bother?

when you're travelling and your car is hella loud like mine, people don't suspect it to be a family car like mine. (dual tip muffler that looks kinda stock)

well its true noise is subjective...but honestly, if your ear drums are any healthy, a cattman header'd and catback vq35 max will be LOUD...guaranteed....if it still isn't loud to u...u obviously dont have healthy ear drums

Should've stayed stock. Cattman's unit fits with stock rear section(muffler). Sounds great if you ask me, cannot even tell it's there, only relalize the gains that are definately there (I can tell by the butt dyno )

staying stock wasnt an option, my stock muffler completley rotted away, so i had no choice but to go aftermarket...

Ideally, I'd like to get headers and full catback, but then get a muffler that is near stock. I'd hate to have the fartcan EvoII sound, but yet I don't like the OEM ugly muffler. I've seen some others get the Dynomax muffler which is quiet, but looks a helluva lot better than OEM.

don't think its loud, but smooth thats what it is.
I've been through so many set up, and on a NA car is smooth, on a S/C'd car its loud , but never raspy. Turbo set up was quieter, and eventually went to a modified, 3" exhaust based on warpspeed's turbo muffler exhaust system.
if you want loud, get a magnaflow resonator, and 90 degree bend, and make a side cut and make it an oval coming out the passner rear door.

My bud has a side exhaust on his VE power SE-R. Once the big cam hits LOUD is not the word!

As everbody has mentioned, you've only got the y pipe which doesn't eliminate a pre-cat (correct me if I'm wrong) on the VQ35, my bet is that the VQ30 with the same mods will be louder...
but once you hit the headers, you'll get a significant change in db.

eBay or classifieds on here would get you a cheap OEM A33B muffler.

seeing as how mine rotted out in only 43K, i wouldnt want another OEM muffler with XXX amount of miles that would rust out eventually. S/S FTW!
