Will a non bose unit work in a bose car?

If you're going to scrap the bose, you should simply pick up an aftermarket head unit if you still want to use the BOSE speakers. The non-BOSE HU will not work with the existing BOSE components.

Any tips on a good after market unit?
Not too pricey.

if you are handy with electronics, you can make a non-bose hu work in a bose setup, you have to make sure to give power to the speaker amps when the hu is turned on. Not so hard, very possible to do as i have done it on other cars before.
