That sucks big time. If you kept it maintaned then it should last over 100k. They dont make them like they used to.

I don't know if your tranny is auto or manual but I own a '98 Quest and it has well over 200K miles and it has never failed at all (knock on wood). I bought it with only 4K miles on it and I have always changed the ATF myself once a year using Mobil one. My ex-wife's owns an '03 Max. and when the car was mine too I changed the tranny fluid once a year too. The Max. has over 97K miles and it's running very strong. The MAF hasn't failed either. My current '02 Max with a manual tranny has over 73K miles and I just changed the gear fluid myself about 2 weeks ago and it's running perfectly too. I figured that the price of synthetic fluid is much less than the price of replacing a tranny.

yeah my mom's '00 auto max has ~235k on it and her 97 quest has ~200k on it and I've always changed her auto tranny fluid and she hasn't replaced a tranny once. I do it every 30k along with a coolant flush, etc. As long as you maintain them they'll last!

do you beat the living **** out of the car? i dont know if your auto or 6spd, prob an auto. my 02, bought new, has 43K is fine. I put in MT-90 at 40K and she shifts fine, no 3rd gear grinding like others have had. I know the autos tend to go, but ****, a tranny a year?

I dont know of anyone that has gone through 3 tranny's in 3 and a half years. Is it auto or manual? Do you neutral drops at every redlight from 4k.

well the dealerships said it was due to "internal failure"..whatever the hell that is...obviously they're replacing it under warrenty..I was actually supposed to get it back today, but I got a phone call from them saying that the Tech broke my starter during the installation process..so now they have to order and replace it..now I gotta wait till Monday to get it...

but I dont beat on my Tranny..I had the tranny fluids replaced 3 months ago...I dont know, maybe its time to move on...dont get me wrong though, I love my Max to death..

Did you replace the ATF yourself or did you pay somebody to do it for you? You haven't told us if it's an auto or manual. I once took another car that I used to own to Tire Kingdom to have the motor oil replaced and those suckers put about one extra quart of new oil in the engine (over 5 quarts). If you put too much ATF in an auto or too much gear oil in a manual you run the risk of ruining the tranny.
