Well, I knew this was gonna happen, and it obviously did on the way home from work today. A Black CL-S came up next to me at the light, with some mid aged guy. He was checking out my car, and of course I was checking out his! I have always loved the look of those new ones...but since they never made a manual, I never got one. So anyways, we both looked at each other and basically we knew what was gonna happen. AC off, he had his windows and roof open already.... Windows down for me. 1st gear, prepped, held rpms 2500~ for street take off. Light went green, we both, got a somewhat spinning lanch, and he hooked up before I did, since I had a little trouble getting my stinking tires to grab, anyways, he got 1/2 a car jump on me off the line, 1st gear I gained 1/4 car back, front bumper at his front wheel. Hit 2nd, pulled and put his bumper at my front wheel, hit 3rd, this was the longer pull, he went back to my rear bumper by the time we let off that is where he was.

This was my first race, and I have been anxious to run one for a while now. They are very fast cars, especially when that 5spd comes out next year in them. But its no match for the 5spd Max, and I am STOCK.

really nice story, a lot of 5sp maxima won those in races, but next year the manual will come out and we'll be in trouble..hehe

 

Ya Mon!!! Good for you...stock for stock another win. Get yourself a Y-pipe and Intake and you will just love the way your car pulls and sounds. I found the intake sound allows me to shift without looking at the tach since you can hear your car vs stock when it is so quiet. The short throw is also wicked.....peer pressure!

Way to go, nothing like that ever happens to me. The most i get is a riced out HONDA with a TYPE R logo , and i just tap my gas and he is toast.

Now watch on the cl-s forum about the excuses that guy will post about losing to a newer Maxima. Did I forget to turn off my traction control? Just tell them that the Maxima can hold its own when it comes to being a fast 4 door sedan. We will show our Nissan power to them anytime! I don't think they will have a manual yet. But when they do then we will have the 6 speed 3.5L Maxima to represent us again. With 260 hps it will be an even better race with the TL-S.

You are right the Max is a far better value than the IS300, it is easily one of the best values in its class! I have never stated that the Max is a slow car, its fast, I just don't think it can beat MY CL-S.

 

OK then. You said MY CL-S. You are entitled to your opinion. No one will stop you from that. But you can't say that everything posted here against the CL-S is BS. If you do then that is BS.

I did not think it was that bad. It goes to show that some TL owners will admit the cars are closely competitive. I think what it all comes down to is drivers being on their game and getting the best of "everything" (starts,low wheelspin...yahda yahda yahda)

Until we take them to the track with official timing for 1/4 miles or lap times for those of us with twisty preference (mine) then it will never be settled. Until then I believe the war will rage on.....

I have a pretty good friend who drives none other than a CL-S, and even he thinks you're an *******. Probably cause, you know, you're an *******. Sorry to everyone here, but flame intended. No one here is doubting that your CL-S is fast, but that doesn't mean it can't be beat. I'll be the first to admit that my friend's CL-S pulls 2 carlengths on my very near bone stock Max up to 100. That would make a CL-S faster than my auto max. I can deal with that, and I can still look at myself in the mirror in the morning, even though my car has lost races. I know that it's going to be ok too even when I hear about my fellow Maxima owners talking about their lost races. I suggest you learn to do the same when you hear about a CL-S getting beat. Take my word for it, there will be another day, and another sunrise over your precious CL-S. It's quite obvious that you come over here only to flame. I've poked around on the Acura forums and guess what? None of us are over there flaming! I'm all about someone else coming to shoot the **** about cars that doesn't own a Maxima. I think it's cool to hear different perspectives from other car owners. But be constructive about it and not an *******. It wouldn't hurt you to grow up a little either. Good kill by the way. I usually dont doubt peoples stories( being realistic that is). Just because 1 Maxima beat 1 CL-S doesnt mean that the Maxima is faster. There have been a few people on the acura-cl.com forum who beat 5spd Maximas(new gen). They both are good cars, and I respect them. Tomorrow I will be going to the track, and trying to get a couple of other people to come with me. If you are from IL/WI area, you are more then welcome to come by. The track is in Union Grove, Wi. The more people there the more fun it will be. My car is not stock, so it wouldnt be fair for me to race a stock one. I'm trying to get a couple of stock ones to come by. This is no flame, just a friendly invitation to the track.
