How many miles on your stock MAF?

Just trying to get a general idea of when everyone has to replace their MAF.

I currently have a little over 145K on my stock MAF which I have cleaned once and am about to do so again. I am just thinking that maybe I should go ahead and get a new on since I found somewhere that I can get it for something like $78 + $10 S&H.

2001 Maxima GLE 137K miles.. auto
I bought the car last sep.
I have all service records for the car and the only time the check engine light came on was at 44K miles and the service record says REPR DIAG ECM MODULE.

I think i'm on the stock MAF for over 100K

I do have a Check engine light on right now and it keeps saying three codes.. 2 for P0430 something about catalyst below efficiency and the intake air temperature circuit malfunction.

Car runs great, I get about 27.6 on highway.. no idle issues.. all i have to do is goto advance when the light comes on, erase the codes and the light is gone.. it comes on like every 1500-1600 miles.. i'm using it as a oil change indicator now !!

Just read your post again, why do u want to simply change the MAF? are you seeing any issues?

Hi all,

I just found this wonderful website the other day, and thought i'd chime in on my experience with MAF's...

I have an 01 SE with 106K on it, and if i had to guess, I'd say my MAF went out around 88K.

Considering what i've read in other threads, I'd say thats about average for the 5th gen Max's...

If it's a good deal, I don't see any harm in picking it up as a spare, regardless of how many miles you have on yours or how long they last. It's a lot better than missing the deal and having to buy one a full retail when you desperately need it. Just don't go running out to change your working MAF just because it's got high miles.

if it aint broke. dont fix it! and it can last for over 100k. mine wasnt even broken and i replaced it on 110k the reason because i damaged it by cleaning the sensor so it needed to be replaced.

Around 50K, then replaced it with the 01 MAF, going to have to replace that with the AM600 MAF soon (Inspection coming soon = NO SES allowed)

53k on my recently purchased 03 se 6 speed. i do have hesitation when i get on it around 2500-3000 rpms. like a loss in power for a sec. then takes off. im not throwing any codes. its annoying. checked the maf and its an am600. no rough idle and free revs nicely. just that hesitation sucks. its completely stock and i havent had time to tinker around with it yet..

186,000 miles (give or take a few) with the last 160,000 or so with a K&N filter in front of it. As long as you don't soak the filter in oil you won't blow your maf. They are more durable than people on here would have you imagine.

80K on the AM600 in my 2k2, but I think it is going bad.

Anyone know when they switched to the AM600 MAF for the 2k2?

Is there a failing MAF symtoms thread I can look through?
My symtoms are slugish acceleration from 2000-3500 rpm then after that power picks up and away I go.

155K on my '03...but I am starting to slow down. I need to replace it, but I don't want any hassles. I am going through the coil issue right now...trying to figure out which one just died. I was just telling a buddy who had his coils done at 45K how lucky I was....

Mine's still going strong at 63k miles.. my mom's 2000 max (which she just sold) had 235k miles on it and the only time she replaced the MAF was at 60k...170k for a MAF is pretty damn good if you ask me...

Just curious.... many people here said that they are starting to notice that their MAF is "starting to go bad ...", how do you know this if there is not check engine light on?

I have 91k miles on my 2003 SE. .... car does NOT feel as fast as it used to be. I have NO warning lights on. The car is very well maintained and etc. 100% Stock intake. Should i suspect the MAF? Any specific symptoms? Ideas?

The only bad thing i hear is the engine pinging around 2k rpm. This is nothing new, it just seems more noticeable now...or it may be just me. I hate this pinging!!! I always use premium gas, always!

My '00 5-spd just rolled past the 80K mark. Here is what's happening. When I shut the throttle to slow down, i.e. street corner, the idle dips way down and more often now will kill the engine...not good. I can restart it fine and get going, but is this a MAF symptom? Still on the orig MAF, std Fram filter, NGK stock ti plugs. No 'engine light' or codes showing up. Your inputs?

Have you seen TSB NTB03-22? Your "hesitation" seems to be very similar to what this TSB covers in which case all you will need is a reprogram to fix the problem.

Doesn't this TSB require replacing the MAF as well? Thats what is listed on ALLDATA

Not necessarily. When I took my late production 2002 in for the TSB all they did was the ECM reprogram. In your case, since you have the AM600 MAF, I am pretty sure you would only require the reprogram as well.

'o1 SE with 122k on stock MAF,, got CEL on and having stuttering acceleration with throttle wide open. I have P0140 codes for the O2 sensors (there is a Tech bulletin out on this), so I will probably be changing the MAF soon also. Not to steal this post, but the O2 sensors I bought from NGK (they were supposed to be OE replacements) had squarish connectors, but the stock OE sensors have rectangularish connectors, so I can't use these, anyone know why this may have happened?
