Typically it provides more airflow back to the filter. I've seen some remove it and some leave it in place.

my scoop is removed because i dont think it provides any additional air flow. i think that without the stock air box, it looks out of place. the engine bay looks cleaner without it.

It's worthless without the stock air box, and the engine bay does look a lot cleaner without it.

I have the air sensor tie wrap somewhere in the engine bay for like 3 year since I have installed the Berk intake which doesn't have a whole to plug it in, I never had a single CEL so dont bother just tie wrap it to the battery or else where.
