Opening up 02-03 Taillights

How hard is it to open up the 02-03 taillights? I want to do like the AE mod to the taillights to get rid of the silver, and then paint the yellow signal part of the light red.

Has anyone done this? I tried searching, but did not find anything yet.

they are almost impossible to open.

all 00-01 SEs had darker taillights (not just the AE). painting them black is done from the outside.

you should just by new tails like i did. $107.70 shipped for the set.

black surrounds + gets right of the yellow blinker part

You'd have to dremel it...baking is not going to work. I'd follow soonfer's advice if you really want to go tinted.

I have to agree with soonerfan, I too just dropped the money to purchase the 00-01 SE taillights and I love em.
Got them for like 120 then sold my chrome ones for like 60 so in reality I only spent like 60 bucks FTW

yea, I know, I was either going to paint my GLE tails like SE, or see if I can get ahold of some 01/02 and try to make somthing that looks a little different.

I thought they would look nice if they were "AE'd" so there was no chrome other than the chrome ring since I have a black max. well thanks for your input and if anyone else has any ideas......Shoot.

Actually we took these lights apart without any problems! Here are some pics. We can paint any shade any color. IF you provide us your code for body paint we can do body matching paint as well.
