Interesting problem:

I replaced my tranny and installed headers on my car.

My car is cali-spec so I supposedly have 4 o2 sensors: 2 primary and 2 secondary.

Apparently I plugged in a secondary sensor into the header and disconnected the primary. My car runs, but it has a 2750rpm fuel cut. It acts normal up to that RPM.

What I did was I replugged all the o2 sensors back in (but the secondary is still in the header) the primary is chillin' outside on top of my engine cover and the other secondary is chillin' on top of my cover as well.

My question is: Is the car able to run without o2 sensors? If so why is my car not running correctly? I don't see any smoke coming out of my exhaust meaning that it is running approximately stoich.

I can get it to rev over 2750 and drive normally when I either stall out the car or shut it off and start it again.

It's strange

Any input?

you need both sensors.
the car has retarded itself to reduce emissions since the ECU isnt getting the correct signals it need to regulate the air/fuel mixture.

It ended up being the EGR lol. Car cannot run correctly without the EGR sensor module.

FYI for all of Maxima.org

Even though you already figured it out...

I have been running my secondaries plugged into my headers (in place of primaries) and my primary sensors are sitting under my bed for 2 years now w/o nothing but a CEL. Still the same mileage and plenty power.

wouldn't you want to keep your primary's and loose the secondaries?

and it still runs fine and good fuel mileage?

Explain

I get the same mileage as I did before. Aside from the MIL, it's the same.
