Hey Check this out!!!

We're about to have a group deal for the HID parts! We need more people though! I'm going for some 6K or 8K bulbs as well when it's all going to be ready! http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=510755

I had 8000k with 3000k fogs. I could see fine. I wouldn't suggest 8000k's alone....

I bought them from umnitza so i guess they are prolumen? Which i heard are the same type of bulbs used in the helios kit just under a different name. i could be mistaken. Either way...i wouldnt upgrade without buying HID fogs.

Do they have the D2R masking on them or are they uncovered like the D2S?

No "masking" (shield). Almost all of the advertised d2r bulbs ive seen from aftermarket HID kit vendors are actually d2c so they are basically d2s that fit in both d2r/d2s housings.

btw anyone wondering about color...it all depends on the housing its in but just so u have an idea...

6k compared to stock looks white with slight blue. Picture is in thread.

6k compared to 8k looks white with purple. Did this next to a friends 06 civic. Its strange how our eyes play games...

Best thing to do is always RUN your HIDS (day or night) so they can colorshift... it's a free mod!

I think colorshift at it's peak roughly 4700k (before it dies), but I would say my headlights look similar to those more blue aftermarkets. I'm not rice.

Damnit, that's what I hate about all the aftermarket bulbs. Glare FTL.

Might have to step up to the Ultinons.

Honestly there is no glare from the 02-03 headlights that ive noticed. They have HID reflectors and even tho the d2c doesnt have the shield of the d2r it looks the same. I will say my fogs give off a slight glare tho and seeing as how you have 00 headlights...your ish will glare.

Of course HIDs are best! It's the next technological advanced step in the lightning world!
The angel eyes are just for the looks, simply something to play around "to show off"

no...8000k is not only illegal, but no carmaker would even think about using that high...almost ALL cars that come with HIDs come with 4300k or close to it.

It's not illegal. There are guys all over Houston with 12000K (purple) HID's and they don't have any problems with the law.

Just because people do things, it doesn't mean that it's legal. Since you obviously have no idea what you're talking about, I'll fill you in with someone else's words. Read carefully, maybe you'll learn something and will not post any more misinformation on here.

In the USA, headlights are only legal for use on public roads if they are DOT approved. (Similar laws apply in all other "developed" countries and many other countries.) This requires that samples of the headlights be sent to the proper testing laboratory and certification must be obtained that the design is approved. Approval is only with specific bulbs tested in the lab in the samples and DOT approval is invalid if a different bulb is used.

It is illegal to use on public roads homebrew headlights or headlights using a bulb other than what they were DOT-approved to use. For example, a headlight that is DOT approved and normally uses a 9005 halogen bulb is not DOT approved for anything else - especially not a D2S for example.

As for what can happen if you use illegal headlights?

1. Often enough, nothing. This depends on location. In some USA cities, law enforcement of traffic regualtions in general is lax. Police are generally not equipped to do headlight photometry anyway.

2. Some unlawful HID retrofit headlights are obvious to a few cops. It is more obvious if you have the really bluish or aqua-ish or obviously dichroic fake HID bluish headlights that are known to some cops to be a safe bet to not meet the complex photometric and colorimetric standards.

If the cop believes you have unlawful headlights, you can be stopped and ticketed. Depending on your state, the violation may be having an invalid inspection sticker or whatever violation of headlight law. Depending on your state and the mood of the cop, you may in extreme cases be barred from driving the car at night (or at all) until it has legal headlights and it has passed inspection again with the legal headlights.
basically, if it's not the same/similar lumens as OEM, it's illegal. Here's another source:

hids are only legal if your car came with them from the factory, but its a small thing, as long as you dont use 12000k the cop wont bother, but just to clear it up if your car didnt have hids from the dealer then its not legal no matter what intensity

Lemme see here: I'm 2" lower than stock, I have clear corners with hyper-whites in them, I have a "racing" cat (not DOT approved), I have hyper-whites in my parking lights (headlights), and I drive almost everywhere at 80+. I haven't been pulled over in 4 years. Nothing I mentioned above is legal but I know I can get a ticket for all of it.

"not having a problem with the law" doesnt make something legal.

No more than 6k. If your car is a show car then anything above 6k is fine but if your driving on the streets then anything above 6k is

Group Deal thread?

Hey does anyone know what happened to that group deal HID thread that we had??? We were suppose to find 10 people for it in order to get the group deal. Or at least can someone post a link to that site that agreed to have a group deal?

1) It is possible for me to get 6000k installed with this housing?

2) How can I increase the ring output on these?

theres a thread dedicated to those ebay projector headlights.
to me i believe the 5.5 gen. headlights look the best. If you do some research you can learn that you can paint the back w/e color you want, install angel eyes, change the turning signal face, possibilities are endless. in the end they will look way better... you dont want your car looking like a ricer
