SLIP and TCS OFF lights are lit up.
SLIP and TCS OFF lights are lit up.
I have a 2002 Maxima automatic transmission. I keep my maxima in great condition with periodic servicing, oil changes, etc.
I was driving on the highway doing about 35/40 mpr. The road was inclined so I was going uphill at the time. I hit the gas to accelerate and I felt the transmission miss the higher gear. As this happened, the SLIP and TCS OFF lights lit up, as well as the check engine light. The car wouldn't upshift and I had to slow down and pull over.
Currently, the all three lights (SLIP, TCS OFF, CHECK ENGINE) are lit up and the car will not drive in the higher gears. My battery is relatively new, however after this event, the battery has been acting a little shakey as well.
Is this a transmission problem or something else? Where can I take my car other than the Nissan dealer and what do I tell them I need fixed?
I'm a novice when it comes to car problems, so any advice, suggestions or comments would be very helpful.

I just got back from autozone. They check my codes. P1102 (Mass Airflow Sensor) code was displayed on their testing device.
Is this something I could replace easily on my own or do I have to go to the dealer? Also, how can I be sure that replacing the Mass Airflow Sensor will fix all the lights?

I'm confused. I've seen many people on here dispute whether the (SLIP, TCS OFF, CHECK ENGINE) light problem is the MAF sensor or a failed coil pack. I would hate to replace the MAF sensor only to find out I have a failed coil pack.
How long would it take an amature to replace the MAF sensor? How about a failed coil pack?

Both are very easy to replace and I know a MAF can usually be tested.
And I think a coil pack can be tested also.
If it is a coil pack you can bring it Nissan and they should be able to tell you exactly what coil it is.
If you are getting a MAF code... chances are it is that, usually a MAF is toast when you cannot rev past 3,000rpms.
