I thought 5th gens weighed around 3400lbs...but people on my local maxima board claim 3180lbs for the most loaded SE...I am referring to a vq30dek version BTW. What does it weigh?

I tried to do a search and was greeted with the following error:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted at (null):0 (tried to allocate 1024 bytes) in /home/httpd/vhosts/forums.maxima.org/httpdocs/search.php on line 910

I didn't see an answer in the stickies either.

5th gens weigh between 3200 and 3300 lbs, but the GXE weighs in the 3100s...3400 is too heavy for any 5th gen....

I googled the specs and 3180, but not sure if that inludes the heavy 17's.

I thought it would definitely be over 3100 lb, closer to 3400lbs..maybe not quite 3400lbs, but in the 3300lbs for a fully loaded SE.

OK edmunds lists the vq30dek cars as follows:
GXE - 3186 lbs.
GLE - 3294 lbs.
SE - 3199lbs.

VQ35DE cars are as follows:
GXE - 3218 lbs.
GLE - 3275 lbs.
SE - 3224 lbs.

That still seems low for the SE to me. I guess I am happy to find out that these cars are still relatively light...I always thought my 5th gen would weigh a crap load more than my 4th gen. But these specs do not specify whether the car is an AT or MT. My old 5 speed 4th gen GXE felt real light compared to my AT "loaded" 2k SE...but I am sure a lot of that "light" feeling was due to how quick I was able to accelerate the old car with the MT.

I am sure there is a tag on my car somewhere that lists it curb weight, however I am not about to go wash off thick salt/grime to find it.

The information plate on the driver's door jamb lists
- GROSS max vehicle weight (~4300lbs)
- FRONT gross max wieght
- REAR gross max weight

but no curb weight....I'm not sure if the underhood information plate does, but I don't think so.

The SE was probably tested with a standard SE package. The GLE is (standard) more feature-filled.

My SE with meridian package, leather, sunroof, etc probably weights more around 3250lbs.

I'm not sure why 5.5 weigh more than 5th gens on paper...they are basically the same car..except the 5.5 comes with a 25lbs lighter vq35

HIDs can't weigh that much, can they

HAHAHAHA

Even so, those numbers don't look to convincing. I've done quite a bit of weight reduction on my car and a stock 2k SE should realistically be a lot heavier.

3200 sounds right for BOTH 5 and 5.5....but on paper it says 3200 for 5 and 3224 for 5.5....blah oh well...25lbs is diddly squat if u ask me....its when u have over 100lbs difference is when people should start comparing weight differences

glass fog light lenses vs. plastic
extra chrome paint on the tail lights
6-disc indash changer

they might also be counting that case of oil you 3.5 guys carry around in the trunk

Why not find out for certain? Most truck stops have scales as do most grain elevators and gravel pits...... Most will weigh your car for little or nothing....
