? about ebay projectors/swap with bosch e46

well i was looking and i noticed the bosch headlights are smaller than the TSX projectors. will these still work??

http://www.hidplanet.com/bosch.html

reason why i ask is cause they're only $99 compared to the TSX $270 on ebay, i'm not looking for the brightest headlights in the world lol, but would these bosch projectors fit and look good and be better than the ebay projectors

They are 100x better than the projectors that come with the ebay ones.

It is just projectors, you need to buy D2s bulbs and ballast.

would it be better to just buy the HID kit from HIDPLANET?? the one that has the e46's, bulbs, ballasts, connectors, mounts all i'd need is the headlights, would that be a better option? it was $399 on hidplanet

The E46 and MDX projectors are a better fit in the Ebay projector headlight brackets in comparison to the TSX projectors. The TSX projectors require some cutting and filing to get them to fit in the bracket properly.

I spent about $460 for the ebay projectors, ballasts (D2S bulbs included) and TSX projectors in total.

would the e46 projectors be direct replacements or is there more work involved?

Yes they can be direct replacements but e46 projectors are smaller than the H3 projectors. You will need to measure carefully when mounting to the assembly frame so that it's level or your cutoff will be slanted.

Projector size comparison: e46, TSX, and ebay H3

These bulbs look fine. I've read alot of places where people recommend using Phillips HID bulbs. That what I use. I don't know about the ballast. I couldn't tell who the manufacturer was. I prefer to use OEM ballast because I know who made it and I can ask owners if they've had any problems with them in their cars.

Those ballast are Hella replicas, the most popular as most aftermarket HID kits use them. Like teddie, I suggest a real OEM ballast, which can be found on eBay or HIDplanet.

Why would you suggest an OEM? Less chance of malfunction i guess?? If i was to do the projector swap, i'd want to put the 50watt HID kit into the projectors, just dont wanna blind anyone. Im not sure that kit is made for d2s bulbs either way but...i need more light.

I would like to do this as well in my 01 maxima. Is there a detailed list of what ballasts to use along with which ebay projectors and which actual lights(E46, TSX, MDX, ect). I need something to make me more interested in the Max again. I have been so tempted to sell her w/ her 115k miles..

Ok so...i wanna do a retro with the e46's into the ebay housings. Can i simply switch out the projectors? If they fit in the same mount, i just change projectors and make sure beam is straight and im good? Im confused. Would d4s ballasts and bulbs be good?

That's the idea, but making sure it is aimed is the hard part.

True. Just not sure if doing this is worth it. I know it will LOOK nice but will the output be drastically brighter? Waiting for you to be done with your project to see if 6k in reflector and 6k in projector are significantly diff. HURRY!
