Odd light activity

Hey guys, my lights have been acting funny as of late. What would happen is that OCCASIONALLY one of my headlights wouldn't work. I would give the light a little love tap and bam the light would come on right away. It doesn't happen all that often but it does happen none the less.

Another odd occurence is my DRL (day time running lights) go off sometimes for no apparent reason and then come back on. I pulled into my gf's driveway yesterday, turned off the lights, and my DRLs were working. A minute or so later they turned off, and then the next minute they're back on! The same thing happens when i use my car starter.

Anyone have any "Bright" ideas?

Dissconnect all connections to the lamps up front and reconnect them.... One of them has to be a little loose. Esp if you can give it a "love tap" and they come back right back on???

If that doesn't work, then I'd check the fuses - do the same thing, pull them out and then put them back in. Then I'd suspect the bulb(s), then I'd suspect a bad ground.

For hunting electrical gremlins, I recommend using a very large, heavy caliber, high powered rifle.

Happy hunting!

drls use a photo voltaic sensor to turn on and off the lights. if it was dusk, they sensor probably thought it was not enough light, and turned the lights off, then maybe a cloud went away, and it got a little lighter outside. this would cause the lights to turn off.
