New exhaust vid with new headers.

Attn Puppet, new vid of exhaust

Cattman Gen 3 headers, Highflow Cat, Cattman B-Pipe, stock muffler and Berk Intake w/ K&N filter.

http://media.putfile.com/Maxima-Cattman-Headers-

Interior Shot at WOT.

http://media.putfile.com/Interior-noise-

I have it posted in the compilation thread also, just want to make sure you see it and update my clips.

I swapped out my HotShot headers for Cattman 3rd gen headers.

Curious. Why is the exhaust only exiting the right tailpipe? When you blipped the throttle, it was only coming out of the right side.

Does not appear that the stock muffler is working properly. Shouldn't the secondary open up when at higher rpm's?

Stock muffler is a valved muffler, when enough of a load is placed on it, it opens the vavle to let exhaust out both tips. It is possible mine is stuck shut... But I really don't care that much.

Dyno should come in the spring once I get something to tune AFR...

Untill then I think it will be a waste since I know I am running rich.

Exactly. From what I understood, it allowed more exhaust to exit once the secondary opened. Wouldn't a stuck valve restrict the flow?

I would if it restricted the flow. Especially with all that you've done.

There weren't enough gasses in the exhaust to open the flap because there wasn't enough load on the motor in neutral. It's not RPM-dependent.

Sounds very nice.

Got it. So only at WOT under load would the valve activate due to the increased pressure from the exhaust.

Rev'n in neutral = no load.

not ONLY at WOT, but it can be at any throttle position as long as there is enough load, which creates more exhaust. really it will only open at higher RPM under higher throttle positions, but theoretically it can open anywhere in the RPM range and throttle range (thats my interpretation)

Better low and mid range than the HotShots.

Very pleased with them.

The G2 were the ones with a few fitment issues and an unreliable fabricator.

Brian changed fabricators and a little design change for the newest ones (G3).

I just installed the 3rd gen Cattmans on my 03, with the cattman catback. It doesn't sound much different. It is much quieter than I would have expected. Sounds nothing like steven88's car.

With respect to steven88's w/ or w/o the CM catback?

So who's going to be the first to dyno these bad boys?

As I said... I am not going to dyno till I get a VAFC, it would be a waste for me to dyno right now since the car is running really rich.

I plan on doing this in the spring... around May or June...

Just wondering, how do you know it's running rich?

Sparks plugs don't last that long on my car, and once I put on headers and it continues with the Cattmans my MPG dropped from an average of 21 --> 16...

Also, when the HotShots were pulled from the car... They smelled like solid gas.

The whole exhaust system reeks of gas.

Sure it isn't another related issue

But yeah, I hear ya. My car wreaks the same and my NB readings are in the 0.91+v range @ wot

Using Z33 335's w/stock tune FTL.

No ones dynod as of yet so we don't know

The first set of dynos proved that Cattmans did add significant power. The second gen showed nearly the same results as the 1st gen. But not many people dyno’d.

It’s hard to compare since the same car isn’t being tested under the same conditions (i.e weather, AFR )

I would post some vids, but I don't have a video camera. I will post dynos, probably end of march. I need to tune so saving up for the greddy blue and some dyno time. The headers are costing a fortune thanks to customs fees and exchange rates.
FTW, it does seem to pull harder. It was hard to do a WOT run because it was rush hour on the way home. And the roads are wet and I have snows on right now. Zero traction. I was doing about 40kmh in second gear and slammed the pedal down and the tires just spun.

Sorry I don't remember if steven88's vids were with or without catback on. He seemed to have some backfiring going on. When I rev it hard with no load it still sounds completely stock, very clean. I'll see if I can borrow a vidcam.

That’s how mine was….until I added a test pipe. Bu there is definitely a power increase since my 30 – 70 is much better (nearly .30 sec and 2-4 MPH, depending on my shift RPM).

Also, you’ll need to add a test pipe as well if you’re going towards the EMB/EMU for tuning, because, well, you know the rules.

Bung needed before cat. I suppose you could keep the stock cat and still have a bung before it.

Back to sound talk. Under load, the sound isn’t bad at all. I can barely tell I have any exhaust modifications.

I am looking into a different resonator though. Looking at louvered cores at the current moment

Started as soon as I put on headers... I did one mod at a time and it stayed the same.

Put on the headers... BAM... Gas guzzlin ****.

Everything else is fine; MAF, coils, fuel filter, tranny, air filter...

Not to mention that the Maxima is known for running pig rich after headers...

Mine went lean by adding an intake. By lean, I mean leaner than before I had an intake.
