Phenolic Spacer Development for VQ35s
#201
I just got back from Aarons couple of minutes ago.
Temps went WAYYYYY down, but i'll let him post the full results.
Took over 7 hours of testing/install to get it finished.
Fitment is UNMATCHED. Seriously, these things look almost like Nissan made them for the car.
First Impressions:
I can definitely feel the difference. Low end torque is increased, and my 0-60 speed feels better... Can't wait to see the actual results from the Dyno tests that were taken.
The only issues at this point is that I have to go through that whole process for the pedal on/off setting or whatever.
That, and the idle is a little high... so we're going to try to figure out the culprit...
Most likely I just need to let the ECU relearn everything and what not.

Yeah, I haven't done either of these yet:
"Throttle Valve Closed Position" procedure must be done every time the TB is unplugged, along with the Throttle Released procedure so it knows WHEN you have released the pedal."
I'm going to change the oil, re-check all torque settings/vacuum lines, and do those two procedures tomorrow morning.
The manifold was nice and cooooool after some city traffic on my way home from work.

I just wanted to let you guys know I am not ignoring you. I am still compiling all the data before I release official results.
Plus, me and Blackmaxx96 are working on a minor issue. I am pretty sure his ECU has to relearn a few things since we disconnected the battery terminal during the install process. Also, we need to make sure the ECU learns the Idle Air Volume by doing that learning procedure.
But let me just say this, so far, the power gains are about what I expected. Which is a good thing!
Also, the upper intake manifold temps dropped by over 40 degrees on average! The lower intake manifold, elbow, and TB temps all dropped by over 30 degrees on average, which is amazing! I'm really happy the lower intake manifold temps saw a decrease that large out of 1/16" thick spacers. The rest of the kit has 1/4" thick spacers.
maxximaa, before I release a price, I need to finish all the testing. But the install process isn't too bad. The estimated labor time is 2-3 hours. It's much easier than doing it on the 3rd gen Maxima. And yes, I ship anywhere in the world!

I dont know about that minor isuse. Sounds like it has something to do with has vacum or something, dont see how the spacers would mess with idel and etc. Could be something else not related to it.
Good luck and keep us updated

UPDATE:
The car runs perfectly..... exxxcept for the the fact that my #1 coil pack is going to poo, and my idle is slowly getting worse and worse... not to mention the car is slowly losing power
I just needed to do all that stupid ECU stuff to fix all the throttle/idle issues.
Trust me, you guys will be amazed once you see these things in person. Aaron was so absolutely meticulous about design... They look like something Nissan would've made!

damm, It looks like you DO have to remove the rails to take off the lower manifold...........
Any one know for sure?

You do NOT have to remove the fuel rails, injectors or anything.
You take off the LIM all in one unit with everything bolted on.
When aaron posts the pictures we took you'll see.

And just to let everyone know. Blackmaxx96 is right. You do NOT need to remove the fuel rails! This makes the install process MUCH easier! Leave the fuel rails connected and raise the lower IM upward with everything attached. There should be plenty of slack in the fuel hose to have room to set the lower IM aside while you clean up the ports and install the spacers.
