cattman catback clunking

Hey guys, anyone have a picture of the b-pipe installed properly? My catback is banging on the little crossmember at the rear "axle" and Brian suggested the resonator section might be upside down. With no instructions how are we to know which is right side up? I'm wondering if it might even be backwards end to end? Any photos would be appreciated. I've searched for photos and found people have had the same problem, I don't want to pay an exhaust guy to install this two or 3 more times. Trial and error method doesn't cut it for me. Thanks in advance

you may just need new exhaust hangers

Instead of new hangars, why not get under there and use hose clamps to tighten up the existing connections.

I had the same clunk, got some hose clamps, problem fixed.

It is an easy fix.

because if it is on upside down or backwards I'd rather have it on the right way.

Just remove it. I have the full Cattman system and there was no-way to make it fit w/o it hitting. The stock system had huge reliefs to clear the cross members.

I had the same problem. I took it to a shop and they bent it back a little and it seemed to work. Mine was coming from this area, not sure if yours is or not. Sorry for such a big pic.

I used to have the clunkig noise, but I have the Budget Bpipe w/ the Cattman rear. I changed the hangers and it seemed to go away.

What is this hose clamp fix you speak of? My exhaust tips are hitting the right side of my Stillen rear valence and I was going to take off the valance and readjust it in the spring. Could hose clamps fix that problem?

Don;t tell Brian that. "It fits perfectly if its installed correctly"

That is exactly my problem. Brian says the instruction manual tells you how to orient the resonator correctly. I have no idea if it does or not since I didn't get any instructions. Now I have to put it back on a hoist to see if it is on right or not.

I bought the nismo bushings, expensive but a lot stiffer. Sometime when I do a burnout you hear the clunk. I tried tightening it more with hose clamps but no matter what once in a while you will hear the clunk. Let me know what you end up doing and if it solves the problem.

I removed that crossmember 40k mi. ago..couldn't be bothered to tighten things up (car's too low to get under w/o ramps). Don't waste money on the Nismo hangers..can achieve the same result w/hose clamps.

I found out the fix. There is a very small pea sized weld bead at the front of the resonator about 2 inches behind the flange. If you go under the car and can see the little dot, you resonator is upside down. The dot faces up. Did that today and the clunking is gone, and lines up a lot better.
