battery issues
I have already replaced 3 batteries and getting pissed. I have a system and i know my battery cap discharged. The original battery was pretty old so i wasn't surprised when it died, but could the the replacements be completely drained by the cap when i replace them? Or could the there be a bigger problem? any help

depending on how you did your wiring if you wired something wrong you might have a current draw. Remove your negative battery terminal and put a voltmeter in series in between the battery post and negatice terminal u took off. Tell me the voltage and then switch to ohms and tell me the reading. You can PM me if you want.

i haven't checked it yet. i don't know where to check it at, what points and all. i am going to try disconnecting my amp to see if the battery holds a charge, since the terminals do spark.

all terminals will spark when you connect them back together. Perhaps some more than others but it's still there. Did you get me a reading? Amps DC and volts. Make sure though that everything is off lights etc and close all your doors etc open hood wait 15secs then get the reading. 04+ cars have a energy saving feature for sure i had to look it up once but i am not sure about ours.
Also did u go through good batteries or cheapies?

well i charged one of my oldies and disconnected my amp and subs, and the batt def lasted longer. i guess when the first batt died the batt cap discharged. when ever i put a new batt in the cap sucked all the juice like a newborn baby. now my problem is how do i charge the cap with out killing a new batt?

how many power sources do u have in your system? 1 battery, 2? Is your main battery a deep cycle sealed? like optima yellow top? another thing to check would be the remote turn on of the amp(s). I am going off a little but had done a install for a friend several treble, midrange, and sub amps, but some jerk wired his remote turn on to a constant power source!!! so in essence eventhough the the car was off and deck was off the amps were still on drawing current!!! Make sure this isnt the case with you. In regards to the cap they maintain a holding charge for a while not like days, or until u rapidly discharge them by touching the + and - wires on the cap together, using a resistor, or just letting time discharge it. the cap wont drain your battery the average cap is set up to store from 12 to 18v depending, but bottom line once it is full it can't store anymore until it has discharged. So it wont drain the battery
