Clockspring Assembly???

My stupid airbag light is back on again after getting it repaired in November for a blinking light..I am the one who the dealer wanted to charge $1083 for a new driver's airbag but went to another dealer and repaired/reattached the wire near the clockspring for $75. The mechanic at the time said if the airbag light comes back on the clockspring will have to be replaced. Has anyone had the clockspring replaced and how much am I looking at since this job I probably can't do myself...
I am first going to try tomorrow the 7 second 3 second trick since the light is blinking steady instead of occasionally. I am so sick of this blinking light

This is the best I could find, but it's for a 4th gen (should be similar enough I'd imagine)...although hopefully a 5th genner will chime in.

BUT you have to get one that is 95/96 specific as the 97-99s are different

Thanks coolmax...I found the clockspring assembly part on the internet for $192.50. I will wait to see if anyone has replaced this themselves or is it best to have it professionally done since it deals with the safety restraint system...Also coolmax...Are you in the Cleveland area also? Where do you get your car serviced? Have you found a good mechanic besides the local stealerships?????Thanks..

Cool. I'd be a bit hesitant to touch anything dealing with the SRS, although it apparently can be done.

Yup, I'm in the Cleveland area. Haven't needed much service yet, but I've always trusted Galati's on Lorain Rd. in North Olmsted, although he tends to be a bit pricey. I might try out Drellishak's next.

Maybe we could have a mini-meet there and/or work on the clockspring?

Hey Jason and Coolmax....Thanks for responding. I have had no luck with my airbag light so far. I appreciate your help but it is to darn cold to work on my clockspring in my garage.. I am not sure if I am going to tackle this myself or let someone else fix it for me..We will have to get together when the weather breaks this spring...
