Keyless entry

MY keyless entry stopped working the other day. It is not the battery in the remote nor the remote. I changed the battery and tried my other remote. It has to be something in the car, but I don't know where to start. Who has had this issue before and where is the unit in the car?

Mine are doing the same...

I have to be right next to the car for them to work. I think they just wear out, I plan on getting new ones soon.

Do a search on here, there is a way to reprogram them yourself in like 5 mins. It's really easy and now I have 3 working remotes

FYI, the remote can get dirty inside. open it up and clean off all the contact points.

we have a tester to test them. If they work fine on it we try to reprogram them. If they are new or new batteries and only work close to the car you are getting a new antenna amp. Sentras have this issue.
To program the remotes get in the car, close your doors lock them. Then put in your key 7-8 times untill your emergency lights flash then when they do turn the ignition on till all the lights go on and then click any button on remote. (ie lock) you should see the emergency lights flash.
If you have 2 remotes after that step unlock doors then lock them again and then hit lock on the second remote.-Skip this step if you only have 1
After that turn off ignition, open the door then close and both should work
I'd try changing the battery then reprograming. There is no reason that they forget the reprograming.

new developments:

the other night, I went out to my car and it was popping the trunk on its own. It did it parobably 5 times when I was out there, about every 7 or 101 seconds. I have not gotten the car looked at yet for the remotenor this new caveat. Any ideas?

then if our trunk pops on itself you have some moist buildup inside your remote and intermittently sends a signal to do something. At least it won't roll the windows down lol. You may need a new remote or try cleaning that one and reprogram.
