on the market for y-pipe...

did a little search, and found that Y-pipe has the best hp increase for the 00-01 maximas, only a few company makes them: catman, budget, and warpspeed, and CE... they all have SS, and budget and warpspeed have aluminized ones, (cheaper) here are the questions:
1.how long will the aluminized last me compare to SS? (dun have a lot of snow here)
2.is there difference between sounds? (everything else is stock)
3.another question is that i know it illuminates the precat, but will i fail the aircare in Canada if my car is fully warm up?
4.i can not find any place to buy the CE y pipe, can somebody find me a site plz?
thanx for your time!

sounds like to me. You'd be better off eliminating them.

I have had aluminized y-pipes on 3 SHOs, and 1 Maxima w/o out any issue. There is so much heat in that area rust has been a non-issue for me, in your case living BC I would pay the difference and get SS. Just my .02.

I have a budget Y-pipe, I doubt there is a fittament issue. But then again their shop is near me so they installed it. Sounds amazing accompanied by their b-pipe and intake and stock muffler. You will not fail air care. Ontario has the toughest air care laws in Canada and I passed easily.

No headers. Can't justify the cost since our precats are in the Y-pipe. I do not have any sound clips at the moment. Maybe I'll record a clip and you tube it when I wash the car this weekend.

Does anyone think it's a bad idea to just throw on a y-pipe and not do any other exhaust upgrades? really don't want to throw a cat back on but a couple people i know said if i don't upgrade to a better exhaust then the stock on a 2K SE then gains w/ just the y pipe would be minimal at best?????

You don't need exhaust. Precats are gone piping is mandrel. Better flowing then stock, you will still see gains.

Many of times 5th gen owners have reported noticable gains with just a y-pipe.

I purchased a warpspeed in Dec. It came with a 4 year warranty and is aluminized. You eliminate one pre-cat and the other fools the 02. It seems to have more power in the mid range and works well with my intake. Maybe it's just me but I was expecting more "butt" gains than what I got.

Sound is not an issue - I have everything stock from the Y on back. You get a little growl at start up - my intake is louder than the Y at WOT. Hope this helps.

If a gasket doesnt come with the kit (not familiar with budget, got the warpspeed) then yes you should buy a new gasket inorder to save your self some time down the road.

I would imagine since they are all direct factory replacments that they should bolt right up if you go that direction,as for the gasket I'm not sure where would be the best place to get them.

Not sure if Budget comes with the gasket. It should as mine was included in the price of the y-pipe and then labour which wasn't much at all.

you can do it by your-self. You will need jack-stands, a breaker bar, 2 car jacks(holds the oem y-pipe) and wd-40. Took me a little over 2 hrs. for a newbee with some choices of words.

i only had a y-pipe on my 00 and there were significant power (and sound) gains.

it is a pain in the @ss to do (ive done 4). but it can be done. the bolts on the rear bank are hard to get to.
fyi, liquid wrench works WAY better than WD-40. WD-40 is a lubricant but liquid wrench actually breaks apart the rust and frees the bolts.

I hate to agree, but getting the old y-pipe off the car was a serious pain in the @ss. My warpspeed fit perfectly, 2 years and still happy with it!
