Maxima 2002 SE, 6SP, 120000 miles

Guys, checking to see what problems I could encouter if I were to purchase a 2002 maxima 6pd with over 120,000 miles. Does anyone have this kind of milage with original clutch and transmission? I heard the tranny goes over 100K. Let me know as the owner is asking $9500.00, thanks.

in my opinion that too much money for that kind of millage. but to answer your question you might need a clutch depending on how the current owner treated the car with the tranny i would suggest a tranny flush.

I just sold my 2K2 back in January. I was the original owner of the vehicle and I had over 147,000 miles on it. I had the clutch replaced under warranty around 18,000 miles because it was howling. There was a TSB for that. It was fine ever since that. As far as the transmission, it was still the original. As far as the price, that is too much. Mine was fully loaded and I didn't even ask that much.

If you're talking NYC miles, that's way too much. Even if it's mostly highway, you could do better I think.

I bought an 01 GLE-auto with 134K on it for $5800 with a stack of the dealer maintenance records of everything done to the car...

Runs like a champ... 9500 is way too much.. start your bid at 5500

I saw your car posted on craigslist when i was buying my car. I was sooo tempted to come and at least take a look. I ended up getting a 99 SE fully loaded 5spd but i really wanted a 5.5 gen with the VQ35. Did you get the 8K you were asking?

I ran my car through the auction this past week and was only able to get $7,100.

I have the exact same care you are inquiring about. I can assure you maint schedule is well above that of the most **** person you know.

I wouldn't give much over $8,000.

No, I did not. That was my starting point. I sold it to another .org member for 7K.

They got a nice car...the car looked great in the pics you posted on craigslist. I would of picked it up in a heartbeat if I had the extra dough...how did you manage to get to 150K miles so quickly?

I drove it for work. They paid all of the gas and oil changes on it. They also paid me a car allowance. I just got a new company vehicle back in December so there was no need for me to keep the Maxima. I was sorry to see it go.

here is one going on ebay, its similar to what your looking for...
its somewhat of a trip but maybe you can make it to boston to take a look at it before bidding, who knows, it may go for a good price...

as far as 9500 for what you were saying, i say thats way too much, i bought mine slightly hit in the front, no frame or suspension damage, had it all professionally fixed and the grand total for my car was 7500 but with a rebuilt/reconstructed title.
its a 02 black on black leather, 6 speed with 45k miles, great condition once i had it repaired, no complaints here!
hope that hepls

that is definitely alot of miles... I think mileage dictates more than the year. I was selling my car not too long ago and had a buyer ready to go at 11k. Mind you I have an 01. But the mileage was like 55k at the time.

120k is a lot of miles driven.

I also have a 03 SE (Auto) which I bought brand new and now has 142K. Car runs like a champ. What should I expect to have broken down soon?

They gave me a 2007 Jeep Liberty. Needless to say, I miss my Maxima. But this time around, I don't have to pay anything on this vehicle. That is the only good thing about it.

That car on eBay is exactly like the car I sold two months ago. Same everything except my Maxima had 147,000 miles. I can't believe that they do not have a reserve on that car. I will be watching the auction. They should be able to get at least 7k for that car.

keep looking. i looked for 2 months, then i finally found a 02 SE 6spd w/ 72k for $9,500. I would consider that a steal. Oh btw, i bought the car from a dealership not a private owner so it pays to be patient.
