2000 SE BASS BLown ??? Need replace amp, HELP!

Have had car for 10 months. 3 months after getting it all of a sudden, the bass would 'blow out' and be distorted, responding all the time not when its actually needed in music. Then, it would be fine after 3 days and go back to sounding normal. This happened- back and forth crap about 4 times in the last 6 months. But now, it hasn't 'snapped back' to normal. Now the bass is constant, distorted, and painful to listen to. All other speakers in the car sound 'ok' but a little more tin'ey than normal.

What about the fuses for the Bose system? Anyone have a Fuse Diagram? If thats not it, can I just replace the Amp to the speakers? Is the AMP unit for the bose system hard to get, replace, etc.

If I can just replace the amp and get the same sound when I bought it, I'll be happy. I don't want to go out and spend $500 (or more, yikes) to get good sound. I'm not looking to turn my SE into a Club.

Help! I'm goin nuts with this crap sound.

Search "bose" "subwoofer" and "cure"...so far no one has found a cure for the inconsistent bose sub.

Bose subwoofer is known to have issues in the 5th gen.

You may want to call carstereohelp.com they know the problem and fix it for $80. They give a one yr warranty on the work done.
