Springs that are good for travel

ALright, i just got rid of my 20's and copped some 18 inch Alloy techs... The wheel gap is huge and makes the 18s look like 15s lol. I want a good drop that will help eliminate the gap, make the ride somewhat better, and is good for having a car full of people to travel long distances. Now before you all get ahead of yourselves, i've read housecors spring setups and have read ALL pages of the suspension thread. No one ever mentioned which springs (out of the poll choices) would be great for long distance travel with people in the car. I guess im moreso worried about going over the bumps and the car bottoming out over little bumps and whatnot. OH and i have Tokico Blues with stock springs right now. They were just put on 2 weeks ago. Father said i should change the springs while i was under there, but i didnt have the cash then.

I've been frequently researching the maxspeeds, H&Rs, and the Tein S Techs.

Im open to all opinions on this. I just really need to know whats good for a full load of people taking long distance trips, and getting rid of the damn wheel gap!!!

I appreciate it peeps

People might not have mentioned which springs were 'good for travel'. But employing a little legwork (i.e taking what you read and applying it to your situation) you would know that S-Techs have horrendous travel, and bottom out on even the smallest bumps. So, check that one off.

From what I've read on here, my vote would be for H&R's.

No probs with my s-tech's they only bottom out if I hit an un-avoidable pothole or something. I would love to see how these people drive or the road condition where they live as I've never experienced the amount of negative feedback at all.

Did you have different springs before or have the S-techs been your only set?

I had Progress before I switched to S-techs. Progress were much better for me.

aight cool. SO far so good. With the S-techs, i kinda figured that was the case, but wanted reassurance. SO yea, i def. will scratch those off the list. H&Rs do make sense...Whats the deal with those progress tho? are they a good combo with the Blues?

For what you want... I would have gone with Boss Chen coilovers.

Not to turn this into another coilover thread, but they are supposed to ride VERY well and you can have almost any drop you want.

I don't have them, but everyone that does loves how they ride.

If you have to stay with springs... H&R are supposed to ride well, but they have a "saggy a$$" in the rear (they don't drop the front enough). Eibachs can be a bit rough I guess (depends on the person) but I think they give a better drop...

If you were on 20's before... I cannot see the Eibachs being any worse than that.

That might pose a problem for the OP since he always has other humanoids with him while traveling.

No but I drove a 90 Prelude in my school days with the Coils and blues and those were very good. Not as rough as the Tein's as well as other cars and the Tein's are rougher but I like how firm they are and the drop. I hardly drive my car also during the week so I guess its a better setup for me.

I second the boss chens. You'll never bottom out, and the car will ride smooth...H&R would be my second choice but yes they do tend to have the saggy azz "look" to them.

I've hauled 200 lbs. worth of stuff + 2 passengers across the country and I had a problem because right now my rear beam is off center toward the right and I have 20mm wheel spacers, so the very edge of the tire would rub up against the fender on really big bumps at highway speeds. If I could do it over again, I would have gotten the H&Rs or even waited a little longer until I could afford Boss Chens. I'm eventually going to replace my h-techs with boss chens...

H&Rs are the most comfortable springs. from the looks of other maximas, the rear isnt that much lower than the front. but if your looking for comfort, get the H&Rs. youll have a nice drop with a smooth ride.

If you don't want a saggy a$$, get Maxspeeds.

...checkem out...

Progress gives a pretty nice drop. it damn near even also. your front wont be LOWER than your rear and your Rear wont Sag so that you be like WTF. Progress all the way if you want to Eliminate the wheel gap using springs. Check out the coilovers tho, dont rule them out, some are really good.

I had tein s-tech w/ tokico blues and ride was harsh on bumps and potholes. I switched to eibach pro kit w/ koni sports and running much better. The drop isn't as low as others however I don't bounce and strain my neck anymore.

Just to confirm H&Rs are lower in the rear, how much, is it noticable? I plan to purchase some for my 2000Maxima GLE but concerned about a saggy A**. I just put 05 maxima wheels on my car and want the gap to be smaller with a descent ride quality. I think all the other coils have to much drop for my new wheels. Do you think their will be enough space for them 245 45 18s with the H&Rs? Where did you get yours and do you have a picture of your car with them on?

I currently have h-techs will illuminas and the ride with people in the car and the 5 way dampening adjust at 1(lowest) it feels like stock. This set-up will only cost under $700 also.
