No rev above 3500

My 2000 max auto with 70k miles on it has slowly been revving lower and lower, to where I now only can get it to about 3500 before sputtering, although it will go higher, just worthlessly. I was told I "might" have a almost complete blockage in my cat by a friend. I am throwing NO codes. Any ideas? Exhaust is all original.
Also is there a sensor on the main cat? I know there are one in each pre cat.
It makes great power up to 3500 btw.
