Did you make sure it was tight? Double check the ends to make sure they are tight also! It may be adjustable with an allen wrench!

I don't know what brand you have but the instructions that came with my Stillen said that I would need to "grind off the excess aluminum on top of the bosses." Which in laymens terms is the intake manifold. I didn't have to because it looked like it had already been done, but if Stillen calls for it I'm sure others will as well.

there were no instructions with it.. but ima re-check the bolts to see if it's tight all the way.... if not then i will have to end up grinding down. I wanted Stillen but their products are expensive.. anything recommended for the grinding?

I actually got my strut bar from CustomMaxima.com when they were around before! I have plenty of clearance between the manifold and strut bar, no problems whatsoever! My cousin has a Courtesy strut bar (from Courtesy Nissan) on his 01 Max and no problems at all and plenty of clearance as well! good luck!

The 02-03 need more clearance than a 00-01, quickest fix is to go to hardware store and buy some washers.

i was thinking bout that while i was driving... i should said sumthin bout that 2. I mean eventho i know it's touching... i still feel the difference in my turns so getting rid of it def out of the question. I know i have tons of washers in my hosue so ima try that before grinding. go0d call

Yeah stillen was kinda pricey, ($143 shipped) even with the military discount, but I just sold my 97 and I wanted to get the 03 up to speed sooner than later for the upcoming club meet season. If the washers don't work I'm sure you can get a local garage to grind off about 1/8th of an inch of metal at a decent price.

Stillen also comes with a nice little window decal.

yeah so i tried the washers... still not enough clearance... my boy got the strut bar from here: http://aspecproducts.com/images.asp?theid=716

Like i said the clearance is really bad, part of the intake manifold dug into the bar... not alot, but deep scratch... deep haha. Im not grinding anything when i can just get one that has plenty of clearance ya know.

any one got some suggestions for a 2003 maxima SE??

I have a SPW Strut Bar. It's the typical eBay style one and it sits about 1" away from the intake collector as well. No clearance issues, but it does slightly rub the hood insulator.

Ya so does mine. I painted mine so theres a few tiny marks on the bar that have rubbed off from the insulation. No biggie though. You have to get real close to see them. Id much rather have that than rub and grind on the IM.

Babyboy can u post pics of urs?

Do the 2000 bars fit on 2002 and 2003 as well?

the point of searching is to search for the ANSWER!!
not search for a related topic then bump it by asking a question
