im trying to change my axle seal and i cant get the new one in. i line it up, but when i try and press it in, it either doesnt budge or it shifts and starts to go in crooked. i kno theres the special nissan tool, but i didnt kno if there was a certain trick to doing it yourself. any inputs are appreciated.

 

Are you trying to push it in manually with your fingers? I've never installed one but I've heard you can use a large socket to press it in.

 

same here I always use a large socket and tap on that and that will evenly press it in.

 

i figured it out kind of, i was attempting to install the incorrect seal, which made it much harder. im waiting to install the correct one, but ill try a socket.

 

i used a maglite =). It was the same circumference as the axle seal
