Magnet in the cup holder lid

Anybody know what the magnet in the cup holder lid is for?

Are you suuuuuuuuure? Look again, it's underneath the lid and you can only see it when it's open.

It's right underneath the lid. There's a round black thing in the middle - it's a magnet.

right now its like 5-1 against you lol... maybe someone had the car before you and used it for something else ...

Ah... Phong, that round thing you are talking about i had to. I didnt know it was a magnet. I dont know what i did with mine or where it went but i do know what you talking about. Rounding rough surface on on side and then the other side looked like it sat in to a space.

Hmm, I didn't know it was a competition... I'll try harder next time to make a more compelling argument.

To answer your question, I'm not the original owner but this definitely came from the factory like this. I'll take some pictures when I get home.

Chances are many of you don't even know it's a magnet - I only found out accidentally when I placed my tin of Altoids (sour) in the cup holder.

if its on the lid that opens and closes..maybe it is there to hide a key? maybe a house key?,..
