Yesterday as I was driving home my car started acting very strange. I was cruising at 70mph with the CC on in 6th gear. All of a sudden, the engine just stalled out. I pulled over, started it back up, but the idle was very odd. It kept idling between 900rpm and dropping down to almost stalling. It finally idled back to normal speeds and I continued on with my trip. Then maybe 20 minutes later, I couldn't get the car to go above 2500rpms. I pulled over again and tried flooring the gas a few times, but it just kept sputtering between 2500rpms and 2000rpms with the gas pedal to the floor.

I shut the car down and sat for a little bit, started it back up and everything was fine. No further problems. I never got a SES light. I looked under the hood, no visible problems. Could this have been bad gasoline? I was thinking maybe the MAF was starting to die, as it is the original MAF, but wouldn't I get code?

sorry if this doesn't make sense, this is the first time the car ever acted funny, just worried if it's anything really bad.

Epacy had the same exact problem IIRC and I think it had something to do with EVAP. Let me find that thread.

edit - it sounds the same as his problem, but I didn't get any codes, no SES light, nothing.
