Rattling Noise From Hood

I got my headlights stolen a while back. So after they fixed the hood, it rattles while I am driving. From what I see and feel, it is not sitting snug in the hood latch after I close it. Is there anyway to fix this, so it does't bounce around???

you may need to replace the hood latch. also check to see if the ring is broken that the latch locks into when you shut the hood.

There are rubber bump stops that are on the radiator support that you can adjust. If that won't help, lower the latch.

there is a TSB for the hood rattle. It requires a bumpstop right by the latch and also their is a peice of rubber i guess that goes over each of the headlights. It is suppose to stop the hood from shaking at highway speeds. Also one other thing to look for is the hood has supports that are "welded" to it but after age those "welds" break and you have to re"weld" them. If you do a search for hood vibration then it should come up w/ the TSB

There is a bolt or 2 on the latch that you loosen and you can raise and lower the latch.

Do that and adjust those two black rubber bump stops and the rattling will stop.

The last post in this thread had informative pictures. It shows how to adjust the latch, and the little flat spots on the edge of the hood pictured is where the bump stops rest, so you can figure out where they are. They're little black rubber pieces just above the headlight that turn to adjust higher or lower.

Also, here's the TSB:

FYI,
02/03 doesnt have the weather striping above the headlights. all 00/01 i have seen had it.

my hood didnt make a sound (rattle) but i could see it vibrating at higher speeds. i put weather striping on the headlights to prevent air from getting under the corners and it eliminated the problem.

I will try that but when i looked at it before it didn't appear that the bolts had any room for adjustment, but I'll check again
