replacing trunk lock
#2
i had the same problem, no damage to the trunk skin but just to the lock. If it is the top mechanism, chances are it isn't catching because it was bent back. The top part is a breeze to replace and took me about 5 minutes and $23 from the dealer. The bottom part on the other hand im not sure about. I can only use my key now to open the trunk because the actual cables were damaged - i was quoted around $150 for all new parts installed, but im cheap and id rather just use the key - are you sure that its bent, it could just be the bottom latch got whacked outta place - all you need is a 10mm ratchet i believe and just start loosening the bottom peice and moving it up and down depending on how its catching - its kind of hard to get it perfectly flush, but its also a quick fix if that is the problem - good luck, i could be wrong but i think its gonna be the top piece malfunctioning like mine did.
