Fuel Filter / Air Filter Question

Qestion (2)

I was asking the dealer about changing the fuel flter on my 03 Max. However unlike my 94 Max where there is a fuel filter on the firewall, the dealer tells me there is no filter on the 03. I guess for sure there must be one in the tank? You have to have a fuel filter on an injected car. (i guess he means on the firewall).

Also, what's the deal when it comes to changing the air filter inside of the cabin. He's saying around $100 bucks to do so. Is it very hard to do and where is it located, and is it necessary to change it (car has only 37,000 miles).

Thanks

i think the filter is in the tank, theres a write-up for it if you search

and for the in-cabin micro filter the part is only like $40 and all you have to do is remove your glove box and you'll see where the cover is for it, they recommend changing it every 15k, theres a write up somewhere here online

the filter is in the sending unit in the gas tank. nissan says that it doesnt require changing. that point is much debated on here.

as far as the in-cabin microfilter...you can buy one for around $50 and install it yourself. you just remove the glovebox (6 screws) and you see where it goes

My 03 has a washable in cabin filter. Also, the fuel filter change has a nice writeup in the stickies.

the washable one is garbage. i tried to clean mine and it didnt get very clean. i decided to spring for the improved carbon activated one. air flow is really improved.

$75.00 is the labor charge and the 25.00 for the filter they've got.

If you read the link I posted / wrote then you'll see that is says never needs to be replaced ( nissan ) Owners of the Max think otherwise. It should be replaced and I do it every 30k. That's just my preference.
