Does anyone have this product on their 2000/2001 Maxima? The stone chips and bugs are getting worse and worse. Also, does anyone know if it is ok to put this film over paint that has some chips already existing?

Hey,

I was going to put Xpel on my i30, but I waited too long. Now my hood needs to be repainted, too many chips (after 30k miles). I also heard someone say it might mess up your paint for some reason, but I've not found any evidence to support this.

What I'd really like to do this summer is have my front end repainted THEN put Xpel on it.

If your car is new, I'd do it now before you're in my situation!!

I have the XPEL on my car, and I'm very happy with it. I had it installed when my car was about 1 month old, so no paint chips or scratches.

Have it. Love it. Fights off bug stains too.

Hmmmmmm, that will be a good question for the 3M company and Xpel. So far no one has told me it will hurt the paint if some chips are present.

I just spoke with an XPel technical rep today. He says it will be fine even with some front end chips. He was very confident in the fact that it would not harm the paint. Also I am having one of their reps install the film. He has installed over 50 kits so i'd rather pay than mess it up. I'm scheduled for Tuesday morning the 24th.

According to XPel & the installer both state if you take care of it (ie. wax & clean it) it should last 5-7 years. The same if not similar product is on the Maximas now on the lower part of the rear wheel well. If you look you will see a piece of clear plastic film right in front of the rear wheel.
