I live in Milwaukee so I can go take a look at it but I just wanted to make sure this is what I want. Does this car have every available option for 5th gens? I don't have a list of available options so I'm asking you guys. Thoughts on this car? The price looks unbelievable, most 4th gens go for around $7k!

It does say the AC doesn't blow cold, which is "most likely a compressor issue" a.k.a. the guy has no idea why. A shop could easily charge several hundred dollars or more to fix that problem, so that money needs to come out of the price of the car.
I also noticed the seller mentioned nothing about the condition of the suspension. That may or may not have been intentional...

But I don't think the AC is worth not buying the car over, eh? What should I look for in the suspension to diagnose any problems?
I think I'm gonna give the guy a call and see if I can arrange a meeting... $6.5k for a 5th gen with 100k sounds MORE than fair to me...

look.
it's WAY under book value.
there is someting wrong with it.
i used to sell cars. there is no way ANYONE would sell it for that price unless it had issues. it would go at an auction for around that price...i wouldn't buy it unless you can see it in person and bring it to a mechanic whom you KNOW. BUYER BEWARE.
if you ask me the compressor is blown some struts are bad and the clutch is on it's way out(any car over 100k you have to expect to replace the stock clutch). around 2k in repairs at a shop.
oh and the front grill is painted which means it's been modified aka driven by a kid.
oh and the tires look close to bald. add another 500 in new rubber M+B.
and why the hell is the guy pointing at the roof in the pic...?

I agree that a car for that price usually has some gremlins. A little while after I bought my 2000 GLE for ($5500, clean title), I have replaced the brakes, passenger side axle(boot broke about a week after I bought it), repainted front end (rock chips went all the way to the sheet metal and lowest layer of the bumper), and am going to be replacing an O2 sensor, doing the timing belt(just in case), and repairing the VIAS. So far it has cost me about $400 with me and my father doing the labor (friend is painting front end), with another couple of hundred for the other things I need to do.
Its best to check it out mechanically before you buy to see if it is worth it, you always get what ya pay for.

another thing to take into consideration AFTER you've had a mechanic check it out is that any vehicle with 100k+ is you should give it a full tune up:
6 ngk plat plugs
300zx fuel filter
oem pcv valve
K&N drop in airfilter(lifetime warranty FTW)
seafoam if you belive in it, and then an oil change.
FLUSH and refill ALL fluids
belts unless they are in good shape
etc...
you can do more but that should be enough imo.
which is going to run you around 500 at a shop or 200 to do it yourself.

if your really interested in the car pay 100 for a tow to and from a reputable mechanic in the area and pay him 50 bucks to look ALL over it. best advice i can say...as for the AC who knows.

What bothers me about the car is the front end is VERY clean, theres no way it could be that rock chip free unless its been repainted, take a mechanic with you make sure all parts are oem. I have a feeling its been hit.
I bought my '02 SE with 59k and the delaer repainted the hood, front and rear bumpers due to normal wear and tear, rock chips, parallel parking, etc. It looked almost new. After driving it 1 year and 35k later, the front end looks like hell. I see no issues with the front of the car being as clean as it is for this specific reason.
If you are interested, as you stated, just contact the seller. Ask him all important questions, if you feel confident in his responses, buy it. That is a hell of a price, it is used and will never be in NEW condition.

iyzmi, just based on this picture alone, there appears to have been NO frontal impact damage to the car. The factory OEM stickers are located in the exact position they should be and the radiator support appears to be in straight and perfact condition.

I'll take a stab that the front hood, fenders, and bumper could have been repainted due to the fabulous and infamous OEM Nissan paint chipping off. Very common practice for dealers to do this before selling a car. Ask the seller about it and see what they say...

I have very rarely ever bought a used car that had more than 50% tread on the tires. Most people, including dealers do not replace tires that still have some meat on them to sell the car. It's an overhead expense they don't want to deal with. That seems normal to me.
As stated, DENT in hood.

i mention the tires because the PURCHASER and THREAD STARTER might not have noticed that, and i feel he needs to know about the extra money he is going to have to put into the car. new tires, tune up, etc.
i sold cars i know how the game is played better then most.
KIDS generally paint parts of their car. the MAJORITY of modified cars are owned by kids not adults. that is a fact. it is NOT stereotyping it is a generalization. i guarantee the average age on the org is under 25. maybe in the eyes of the law your an adult but most 20 something yr olds are in between the teen/adult stage.
if you have a problem with me finish it in PMs. this person's thread is not the place.
thanks,

edit: also going with the whole stealerships hate to spend $ fixing a car. they would not spend the time and money respraying it. as you obviously know...

Unfortunately, I saw more negative responses to iyzmi's initial post basically telling him to not even take interest in the car. He might have actually found a great car to purchase, but might shy away because of these posts. He needs to know the positives and negatives with buying a vehicle.
I personally see nothing shady about this eBay Buy It Now vehicle. I would, as should any interested buyer, contact the buyer and ask questions. It's not that hard to tell if the seller is attempting to hide something AND if purchased he has a CarFax buy back guarantee. That pretty much seals the deal for me.
Um I have a 00 max and trying to sell it on Craigslist and other sources for 6500 and there no demand for Maximas. I hate to say it but that price is the average selling price for a Maxima that is 7 years old and has 100k miles.

Yes, I am quite aware of the marketing and selling of used (and new) vehicles. I know what sells and what does not.
Obviously...

That car does have allot of options though, hell i was gonna take 6,000 for mine about half a year ago and it was at 108k mi.

frame damage means it isn't worth ****.
you should be GLAD you did not buy it.
nismopc: i guess it's good i was so negative huh? if he went and bought it and found out his car was worth aroudn 2-3k instead of 6-8k he wouldn't have been happy...
edit: the resale value of a car is really affected by it's miles. 100k+ is hard to get a loan for unless you have decent credit(i know i sold cars and we hated having vehicals over 100k because you need either good credit or a big downpayment or both which 75% of americans don't have) credit unions are generally better to go for when you want to purchase a car above 100k for what it's worth...the way i look at it is sell it when it has 80k or plan on driving it untill 150k+. otherwise your losing money on it generally.

grants on the new ride. sorry to see it isn't a maxima but i think you'll enjoy the car. make sure to show us some pics of what you got!
edit: tell me you got the wrx...please.
I'm sorry to disappoint you but the monthly payments on the WRX were out of my range.
Will post pics sometime next week if I have the time.
I'm actually still double guessing myself, I'm going to be paying $7,500 for a car I'll use for 3.5yrs whereas I can get a Maxima for that price and have it for forever.... I have 3 days to cancel my contract, I don't think I'm going to but my realistic side is telling me the Max is a better choice. But the Subaru has the new car smell. lol

i had a 2000 maxima, 5 speed, fully loaded except heated seats. i sold the car with 2003 headlights, stillen kit, kyb shocks, s tech suspension for 6400 cash. car had 105,000 miles on it
it had a dent on the door, clutch line needed replacing (connecting to slave cylinder?) and thats about it. clean title, no frame damage..
you can find good condition cars for cheap... its not always a bad buy... but i guess in this case it happened to be..

Would you please post the results. I am interested to see how seller could state it had a clean CarFax but Autocheck actually reported differently.

Yeah what he said. So just because the car checks out ok on carfax, doesn't mean that it's fine or what?
