Slow Windows

My passenger side window works from both front switches. My problem is that it rises SLOW from about the bottom to half-way up and then shoots up normally after it is closed halfway. The motor is fine, the problem is the window itself. Is there any type of grease or lubrication that I can apply to the window to get it to rise normally? Thanks.

I have had this problem for the longest and only on the front passenger window, rolls down fine, takes forever to roll back up, tried seafoam but it was only temporary and not long until it was back to it slow self again! Still looking for a cure, until then I have just learned to deal with it! Good luck!

its a common problem with the 5th gens....best thing to do it clean our the tracks, and use lithium sp? grease. it come in a spray can and regrease the tracks once in a while. also if you use rain-x on the exterior of the window it helps a little. and regreasing the metal wire inside the door.

if it annoys you like crazy, change out the motor (i know you're works fine) BUT i changed one of mine out when it broke and compared to the rest that one rolls up and down like a champ. costs like 50 bucks on ebay and about 1 hour of work. good luck!

when i put my grounding kit in it seemed to help, along with regreasing...

i noticed when its hot out that its rolls up fast but cold moist weather makes it roll up slow

you need to clean the tracks then spray them with silicon spray (use that because its water based. something oil based like WD40 will attract dirt and make the problem worse).

Sorry if this is a stupid question but would I need to remove the door panel to get to the tracks or just shoot it down the window jam?

you dont need to remove anything.
roll down the window and clean the up and down tracks. then spray with silicon spray in the track and roll the window up and down to spread it.

I have found that cleaning the tracks and all, is only a temporary fix. It wasnt long before it was back to going slow again. I eventually just got used to it

My Max is still under warranty, I was experiencing the exact same problem. I took it to the dealer and my window regulator/motor assembly was replaced. 6 months later same crap. I put some lithitum grease in there and they work great now.

With the window in the down position you should shot the silicon spray down and up the window tracks. This is an excellent thing to do at least a couple times a year. Caution: if you use a petroleum bases spray it can cause the rubber to rot, get sticky or even swell out of shape. Only use the silicon spray and if it is real bad you can use a silicon lube/grease.

i just siliconed my windows and theres a slight improvement... the passenger side window rolls up a little faster, but still slower than the drivers side

i always think of it as if the windows are racing... the day that both windows reach the top at the same time... thats when i have achieved success

Sorry to be off-topic, but I just have a general question about the 5.5 gen rear pass. windows. Does it only go down halfway into the door? I just bought a 2002 SE and it seems a little weird that both the rear windows only go down half way. Thanks!

they only go halfway, this is because the design of the door can only allow that much before it would be hitting the door frame. nothing you can do about it. unfortunately

why would you want to do this? the motors are fine, they just need grease sometimes. mine are fine after 5 years and never being greased, but i live in pretty relaxed conditions

I cleaned the tracks yesterday and used a lithium cream/paste called "white lube"

i ran the windows up and down about 10 times a piece and windows moved more smoothly, and with no noise.

checked again today and same results

I've lubed all the window channels and it made a little improvement. Has anyone taken the door panel off and lubed the mechanisim itself? I'd like to hear comments about that before I cuss the panel off.

Mine are slow too, I'll try this.

But mine don't squeak, they scream like a rodent being smashed.
