Cost to replace control arm bushings

I just came back from the dealer again, it seem like once the car hits 70K, so many things tend to creep up on you.

My control arm bushings needs to be replaced, im not 100% sure if its one side or both sides. The dealer quoted me 600 for parts and labor...

I was surprised. THATS A LOT!

Does anyone know what is the cheapest cost for the bushings (original nissan parts only, i learned that the hard way with aftermarket parts.... )

Does anyone know how much daveB charges for those bushings?

Any help is appreciated.

If it has to be Nissan parts then you will have to replace the entire control arm. Cattman sells the ES control arm bushings but it doesn't sound like you want to go that route.

How do you know your control arm bushings need to be replaced?

the dealer told me the bushings were cracked and they "recommended" that it should be replaced soon.

well i was thinking either gettting aftermarket bushings online and head to a mechanic. Alternatively, I can just go through the nissan dealership and hurt my wallet. I just never had a good experience with regular mechanics and everytime i actually do go back to the dealership, Ive had no problems with my car.....

lucky you, the stealership does more damage to my maxima than good. They spilt brake fluid on one of my wheels, peeled the chrome right off. The told me that my shock was bad, bought a new one, they replaced it then they realized that it wasn't bad.

I think it maybe cheapest to buy ES bushing and do it yourself. i was quoted about the same from a shop and may just end up doing it myself.

Does anyone have a how to on how to replace the control arm bushings?

ES control arm bushings >>>> OEM bushings. Pull the control arms yourself, and find a machine shop or any shop to press out the old ones for a couple bucks. The new ES ones will slide right in.

Control arm w/new balljoint from Autozone/Advanced Auto/ect = $124

Time to do the job in = 1 hour or less

The thought of doing it yourself and saving $476 from the stealership =

PRICELESS

ps - Never ever go to the stealership, unless its just to get something checked out)

Then when they approach you with the "problem", say Thank you, and slowly back away......

Once you hit the door......you should be home free (unless captured by a salesman, of course, then you could be there for hours!!!)

I remember reading a text write up for bushings that Matt Blehm did at some point.

Is is a must to replace the entire control arm with the balljoint, can the balljoint be replaces using the same control arm? Now the bushings themselves go around the four bolts on each of the control arms, right.

How many have replaced them by doing it in their garages with power tools, or is a forte of the dealership?

I got the ES bushings from Cattman and a set of sway bar bracket bushings, with shipping it came to 110 and I think I got overnight too...these are polyurethane and the front end feels a lot tighter however it takes bumps slightly harder too. I thought it was causing a rattle from under the car but it wasnt, the bushings wernt actually bad. The labor to do all that was $200 but that was a deal with a mechanic I knew through working at autozone. So maybe 210-260 in labor if you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself
