What the heck is this?

I hope this isnt a repost cuz i did a search on google and found nothing.

http://cgi.ebay.com/JDM-Nissan-02-03...QQcmdZViewItem

A whole setup for 199 + 35 shipping. they even taking best offers....

im not marketing for them, and im not trying to get flamed.

i just want to know - Why is this setup so much cheaper? Is this basically cheap material?

I hope this is not you get what you pay for. That price seems unreal. Its less than a muffler.

1. Those are not equal-length headers....FTL
2. Anything marketed with "JDM" in the title should be avoided on principle, since these were probably made in some sweatshop in China.
3. Typically, if something seems too good to be true....it IS not true.

As Irish said... No equal length... No go.

Also, stainless MUST fit perfect... Or they run a huge chance of cracking.

This is why Brian Catts goes to such lenghts to make sure his headers fit perfect.

You can count on very low quality made in china stainless, not much power gain, better off just adding a y-pipe and possible fitment issues that could lead to cracking.

Looking at the pics and description... If you know what you are talking about, you already know they are a POS.

I'm a little weary of buying items that sellers say fit multiple motors with no problem. Plus, his feedback isn't that great. I once bought a CAI for my sentra off of ebay and it was a piece of junk that didn't fit my motor and I ended up throwing out. you really do get what you pay for. I'd much rather do it right and save up than waste 200 dollars on a horrible product that you'll never be pleased with. Taking the cheap way out is often not the best way to go. I've learned from experience.

Don't waste your money/time. The short runners to the collectors would limit horsepower to not much, if any, more than stock, and who even knows about fitment. I would hold out for a trusted brand.

Oh yeah, I bet the SS autochrome headers I got for a V-8 tundra were POS as well? They were only $125 on E-bay, so they must have been junk right?

Well the fit was PERFECT! and the welds were SOOOOO nice. 50k miles and 2 years later....... no problems whatsoever, using toyota gaskets of course .

I AM NOT SAYING THESE ARE GOOD, and I'm not saying that they are bad, all I'm saying is if you don't know that they are pos don't say they are, if you aren't using them you really have no right to be commenting on them. Did you find out the hard way that the fitment is bad? Are you holding them in your hands and looking at the horrible welds? NO, you're not, you're simply assuming that they are junk because they are for sale on E-bay at a cheap price.

I'm going to order a set within a few weeks, as much as I was looking forward to a gut/sleeve of the pre-cats on the '04, I would thoroughly enjoy being able to post factual information in this thread of whether they were good or bad, instead of being like everyone else and saying "oh, they're junk, can't you tell? I can, and I don't even have a set in front of me"

I'm going to add one more time: I'm not saying these are good, and I'm not saying these are bad

I think his point was that you can see that the design of those shorty headers aren't much of an improvement over stock, so you're not going to gain much additional power by putting these in. Mr Eous did some dyno testing on a 4th Gen to confirm this a while back.

And while SSAC may make decent parts for other cars, that doesn't always translate to Maximas.

To everyone else, if you're going to go cheap, take a look at the OBX headers, those have long tubes, even though the y-pipe isn't equal length. Although, I think someone had a bad experience with them recently, either in the 4th Gen or All Motor forum.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure this has been discussed time and time again, so look in the Header Sticky (which does have a link to that NYC Maxima header thread) or old threads if you want more opinions.
