Lexus caps, do they fit in 5.5 fogs or not?

i know there are many threads on the capsuls and i still can't find a clear answer

do the fit in the 02-02 fog housing (with out cobbing it)?

if yes, do they fit with the shroud?

if you have done this, is there any yellow color visible when hte fogs are off during hte day? (think ricer blue headlights bulbs)

thanks

(i have seen them in 5.5's but they don't look as good from the pics i have seen and don't want a cob job look)

i guess i should be clearer on what i'm looking for.

i like this lexus caps so i don't have to try and match the headlights in color apearance.

but what i don't want is the the fog light to go from the nice clean white/clear....the nasty yellow when they are off....so i really want to know if the shroud can be used....and if they look yellow while off (the shorud apears to be coverd those post and they say to remove them....but i don't want to get flashed all the time either)

The 9006's don't really fit.

The H3's do.

If done properly they do not look yelow when off. I have the lexus yellow hidtech capsules installed on my 5th gen & they look 100% stock when off. You achieve this by reinstalling the bulb shroud over the capsule. From my understanding the 5th gen & 5.5 gen fogs sre the same except for the 5.5 being glass & the 5th gen being plastic. same clearance on the inside. As far as the comment above "Your better off getting yellow fog bulbs." This comment could not be any farther off. There is no comparison between the yellow bulbs & the capsules. The differnce between the two is like night & day.

this is where the confision comes in...are you refering to the h3 capsuls or the 9006 that are basically needed due to hte heat build up?

(from the above mentioned posts the 5th and 5.5 are different inside...)

He is using 9006's in his 2000, because they fit perfect in a 00-01 fog light. 9006's do not fit in the 02-03 fogs. They are to long since the 02-03 fogs are much shorter than the 00-01 fogs, and you can't use the glare shield to cover the capsule.

H3's fit MUCH better in the 02-03 fogs and you can still use the glare shield.

just an fyi if you use the glare shield again, snip off the extra metal to get more color in your output. without adding much yellow "ricer" color to you fogs.

You can't use the glare shield. I installed the capsules on my 2002. There is absolutely no way you can retain the glare shield with 9006 capsules or the capsules I used. The 9006 capsules are a terrible fit. They aren't a fit, actually, this has been said and known. The H3 capsules I have no experience with, but I recall heat build up concerns. Upstate seems to know more than I do about em.

I used H4 capsules from suvlights.com on mine. They just BARELY fit, again, no glare shield at all. Actually, the glass lens teetered about a mm on the end of the capsule, but some extra clear silicone worked like a charm. It's been 8 months since the install, and I have no condensation and no heat problems, nor do I have any cracking. The lights look just like 5th gen when lit, though I don't have any pictures of them lit at the moment, but I installed 9006 capsules on my brother's 01 Max, and we put them side by and side and there is very very little difference if any at all. Here is a pic of what it looks like during the day:

I can attempt to get a picture of what the output is at night as well, but there are lots of pics of 5th gens with em. Still, some people want to know, let me know if that's the case. Here is a link to the bulbs I got... $18 total and you don't have to do the email stuff with HIDtech...

Like I said I have had the 02 fogs side by side with my 00 fogs the internals look identical & I had no problem installing the bulb shroud over the 9006 hidtech capsule. Under the shroud there is a metal flap that I removed to make it fit over the 9006 caosule it was very easy.

Occasionally you can get lucky on ebay. That's where I found mine about a year or so ago.

u can get tint film off ebay for $7.99 for a 12''x24'' piece i did the tint on my car and i absolutely love it! i removed the glare guards and aimed them down they look awesome well IMO anyways. the caps are pretty hard to find and usually much more pricier than the tint or spray. as for spraying them its def not for me as they will always be yellow with tint u can just peel it off but yellow spray does work great
