My car is hurtin...any ideas??

After doin' some searchin', I am pointing to the MAF sensor. This morning I get into my car and it starts right up w/ no problem. Then it started to struggled at idle then died. I started it up again and took off with a lot of shaking. I felt like I was teaching my daughter how to drive a stick for the first time. If I floored it, the RPM's would just drop and the car would die. Then the smell of my car running VERY rich was very obvious inside my car. The car has no problem starting every time. Anyone have a better avenue to take with this?

I am searching for the right place to buy an inexpensive MAF sensor hoping that this is the only problem. I have never had a problem with my car like this so I am a liiiiiiiittle worried

sounds like a MAF problem. if you read through the forum there is a away to make the 01 MAF work with 02 it includes splicing of wires though but its saves you money.

harmbone2k2, I had the same problem with me 2000 maxima. Same symptoms to the dot. First the problem will just get worse.

Solution (Temp fix)
When you start the car, let it run for a few minutes. You will still have the same struggle but not as much.

2nd. Try cleaning your MAF with Electrical contact cleaner ($7.00) . Now I tried this and it worked for about 3 days and then it got worse, so it’s possible that your MAF may get worse. However it may all needs a clean. 

3rd. Do not buy the MAF from any Nissan dealership you will be paying an arm and a leg for one of them. Example Nissan quoted me for my MAF $656 plus labour.. ya right I’m paying that.

Solution (Main Fix)
Purchase a new MAF from (http://www.courtesyparts.com/) they are a trusty company and can pay with paypal or credit card which ever. I purchased my MAF from there for $109US and I changed it my self which took 10 minutes to change it. (which took the company a day and half to send it to me.. (wow) And here is Nissan charging me an hour for labour. I just saved over 500 bucks from that site and the best part about that site is that it was the same model and make of the same MAF that Nissan had in my car. I'm honestly thinking of selling Nissan the MAF myself.. hahah.

That will work research does pay off
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

By the way you might need to reprogram your ECM after your MAF gets changed. but first change the MAF.

Best

I called DaveB in Austin and he has a 2K1 MAF on the way to me. Very nice guy and very quick to get the part I hopefully need. I will update in a few days with results.
