oil in coil pack

WHile change the sparks on my 02 max (auto) yesterday, I discoverd a substantial amount of oil in cylinder 6, (rear, right-most cylinder). It was pretty much filled to the brim with oil. I'm told that I might have a valve cover gasket leak but I would need to replace that as well as the valve cover. Has anyone ever had this issue?

I also found a extra rubber piece in that same cylinder on the coilpack that is not found in any of the other coil packs. since I didn't have an issue with it in there, I stuck it back in but I still wonder if everyone else has that same extra rubber piece.

Finally, when I rev my car, it revs normally but on the way down it kind of hangs at 1200rpm for a sec or two before dropping back down below 1k rpm. Is this normal?

I had the exact same problem when I changed my plugs not too long ago. I thought it was a valve cover gasket also, but with these plastic covers there is not gasket around the spark plug tubes. I didn't know about upgrading to 6th gen covers, but I do remember reading that you have to replace the valve cover to fix the problem....

It seems the back plug closest to the driver's side is always the issue..... during my searches I came across a few posts that ppl have had trouble with that cylinder as far back as 4th gen (99 models)..

Im looking through the online dealer catalog and they sell left and right valve covers. problem is, they don't label which is which. Anyone know if the rear cover is considered the left or right?

you need to one that does not have the oil fill hole in it...the one with the hole is the front one.

looks like hte "left one" i am asumming cause the link shows a ****ty dipiction and the same #'s for left and right....but if the one with out the hole should be the cheaper one...and the fact that if the motor is turn as in a RWD layout its the left side

right is the back of the engine. Just like cylinder 1. You always view the engine from the tranny end.
