Engine not so smooth

My max has 149K miles on it and I'm the original owner. While in Park, I hit the gas, I don't feel or should I say hear the car as smooth as it used to be. Tranny problem? Any suggestion?
Sorry for not being able to clarify this any better.

Any MIL codes? How's the rear motor mount?

Is your service engine light on? If so, it could be pointing to a malfunction which would affect driveability.

As far as the motor mount is concerned:

if anything, it'd be your torque converter; how would tranny do with engine power in park?
your engine wouldn't be as smooth because it might have carbon buildup all over the place, which is normal

All these suggestions are a touch far fetched. I still think my considerations are more appropriate and relative. Eliminate the small/easier items before going to extreme.

Thanks Darcy.
SES is not ON. I had the hood open while in park and when I hit the gas, I hear the engine and it doesn't sound as healthy as it used to. I understand the car has 149K miles.
How about using premium motor oil specially formulated for higher-mileage cars -- such as Castrol GTX?
Do you recommend any off the shelf product from AutoZone to reduce engine noise?

If its not in gear it wouldnt have anything to do with your transmission. Try doing a fuel systems cleaning, or what a lot of people like to do on hear seafoam.

Thanks Derek.

I'll try one of those fuel system cleaners.
BTW--I've always wanted an air intake. How does your Maxima run with the air intake you got?

No problem. Make sure with the cleaners its actually something for the engine not just your typical gas tank additive.

My intake is great. I just switched over from the apexi air to the k&n and I think the K&N runs much better and is bigger. Its cheaper to so id recommend you save the money and get the K&N.The intake has a low whistle and past 4k it growls mean and makes the 3.5 sound great.

What brand is recommended for our cars?

Id buy seafoam from autzone. ( $5.99 if I remember correctly ) Then i would do half in gas tank and other half through brake booster vacuum line.

There is a video how to here - http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=508545

There is also other info in there.
