Cylinder 5 Misfired Detected what does this mean, and what should i do about it. how important is it for me to fix this problem right away.

It is very important that this be fixed soon. A misfire can send unburnt fuel into your exhaust system and cause rapid deterioration of your catalyst, not to mention robbing you of power & fuel mileage. Search the forums for coil pack failure & replacement, this is most certainly the issue with your 2000 Maxima.
