Keyless entry?

I have an 01 base? model max and I was wondering if they all have keyless capability from the factory? I got my car used and I did not get a keypad with it, but I was wondering if I could just buy a remote and program it and it would work? thanks

Yes. You will have to have it programmed, but they all should have keyless entry capability. Talk to your local dealer, not sure how much it would cost for programming.

Actually all you have to do is make sure your car is setup with keyless (which I'm sure it is) and go on ebay and find a remote and program it yourself. i bought one off there just recently for $15 shipped and programmed it myself. Its really easy. DON'T take it to the dealer cause they will charge you like $40 to do something you can do in like less than a minute. One place that has instructions is www.programyourremote.com

Yeah I really kicked myself when I found out how easy it was to do it cause I had taken a different remote to the stealership earlier and had to cough up $40. I was like no more of that!!

Program it yourself. With the remote and programming it would cost you like $120 at the dealer. RIP OFF!
TRY to program it yourself! Much easier, cheaper, and FASTER!!

Are there special remotes for the AE cars, or are all of them generic? I also bought mine used without remotes and hate the fact that there is no door key on the passenger side. Thanks.

A lot of times people will loose them between their house and the dealer... I only got one (flaky) remote with mine. But I bought another off Ebay and it works like a charm!

I bought a replacement remote off Ebay for my 2k SE because my original remote stopped working. The original remote would lock the doors and open the trunk, but wouldn't unlock the doors. The new remote I received suffers the exact same problem. I programmed it correctly, but it also will not unlock the doors but does lock them and do the trunk. Any ideas?

^ You can open up the remote and try to clean off the rubber insert with soap and water, as well as take a toothpick to the switches on the printed circuit board.

ill be damned if i were gonna pay the dealership 80 bucks for a remote with programming. I purchased the remote from Ebay from one of the Nissan OEM vendors (Calsonic Kansei Corp) and i searched the net and found the instructions.... I got the remote from Ebay for 16 bucks shipped. However my remote is modeled after the 2k4 remotes

my new one looks like this........

u can also use rubbing alcohol on the circuit board, if its pretty dirty....Alcohol has no operating effect on circuit boards. U can soak an entire processor in Alcohol, let it air dry for an hour, and ITLL BE GOOD AS NEW.

Used, "guaranteed to work" (he checks them before shipping and has decent feedback on Ebay). The door unlock button on the inside does work. You thinking bad BCM?

Whatever you do, make sure to match the FCC ID on your old remote with the one you want to buy. The FCC ID must match for it to work.

I got it from EBAY......youve got a 2000, so check the FCC ID on the back of your remote, and try to look for a manufacturer from one of the OEM vendors for the NISSAN REMOTES.....But your right, the regular 5th gen remotes are UGLY
